Echidna in King Arthur's court

With every successive release, Sega find ever more creative ways to disappoint fans of Sonic The Hedgehog. From role-playing to firearms to Big the bloody Cat, it seems they've come to the conclusion that a 3D version of Mega Drive-era Sonic (what we actually want) is out of the question and have instead leapt on every random idea they can think of, in the desperate hope that something will stick. Last time he was a 'werehog'; this time they've dumped him in Arthurian legend and given him an incredibly annoying talking sword.... read more

All those on the other thread having a go at Ninty for milking the Mario franchise, now this really is flogging a dead horse.

Will someone please put the horrible little blue vermin to sleep? For good.

If they stopped gimmicking and went back to what made Sonic fun in the first place it wouldn't be so bad.

Secret Rings got fairly positive reviews, because the focus was on speed, running and jumping.
Likewise, reviewers really liked the non-werewolf levels of Unleashed.

Dear Sonic Team,
Sonic got his name from running at supersonic speeds. Miles "Tails" Prower is also designed to move quickly. As you'll see, the more crap you stick in, the worse the review scores get. Try reading what people want and stop doing stuff just because you can. You'll do a lot better out of it.

Its not that bad a game. Well it was better than Sonic unleashed and definately a disappointmnet compared to sonic and the seret rings.

There's just nothing exciting about it, nothing really bad there either its just meh.

Worth a rent just for the utterly bonkers story.

Kill Sonic. It brings me no joy watching my favourite gaming character from when I was a child getting raped by SEGA. Put him down or actually listen to fans.
They'd only have to go on one forum to see what fans want. It's common sense.

True since all the original members of the Sonic team have probably left a long time ago. Sonic Team is like what Rare is today all in name only.

I feel compelled to agree with you here. Since the 16bit era Sonic has been dead to me.

I felt a minor pang of excitement when playing the demo of Unleashed through Live, then ended borrowing the full game and realising as a complete package it was a fetid turd. Bring back the old is what I say! It wasn't broken and was thoroughly enjoyable.

This is exactly what everyone has said yet Sonic Team seem to be totally oblivious to: Sonic with the running fast is good. Sonic with a gimmick is bullsh*t.

I reckon they should do an experiment. Remake the original game's Green Hill Zone in 3D and give it away on XBL/PSN. The amount of actual design would be minimal but it would keep the same basic feel while looking current-gen. Then watch the downloads and responses.
I bet people would love it.

I absolutely loved the original 16 bit titles. I just don't believe that Sega are prepared to listen to what Sonic fans really want anymore.

I think production of this began before Unleashed was released, so hopefully SEGA can just use what they are good at (Unleashed Day levels, Sonic Rush, Sonic Adventure and Sonic Chronicles) and bring back Sonic for good!

OMG how HARD can it be?

All they need to do is create something ALONG the lines of Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast and off they go!!

They seem to have mess it up by adding in stupid Score meters etc!

f**k just go back to the Open world concept where you can jump in levels and play mini games etc!

ITS NOT HARD!!!
