Review: Leading the charge

This is the grandest, most spectacular work of strategy gaming on the PC. If you've not tackled a Total War game before, or assume that they're not for you, I challenge you to play Empire and not be impressed, or even fundamentally changed by the experience. This is one of the most playable, and therefore important and accomplished, games ever created.... read more

...while the American superpower pats the British bulldog on the top of it's head. :P

*This* is what I've been waiting for in my pre-order box since October! *This* is what I've been hoping for and anticipating in the development of the "TW" franchise since 2004! *This* is it and it is finally here! I'm so happy! :D :D :D

Screenshots

Screenshots are too big to hit the next/previous buttons on my screen. (Firefox browser), sloppy. Can we have the next previous buttons at the top please. (flash at the bottom would be good too.)

Try maximizing the window in which you view the pics. I agree it's a bit annoying as it happens on my 26" monitor too (I use Firefox at home as well).

My order has been posted, the only problem is my new PC to replace my broken old one isn't ready. So I'll have a copy of Empire: Total War, and a macbook to get frustrated I cannot play it on. Roll on when the machine is ready.

Can't wait to pick this up but I'm going to have to wait for a bit as cash is tight at the moment (damn recession *shakes fist*). I was always a bit put off by the TW series but recently saw Medieval 2 and its expansions for a tenner so picked them up. I'm glad I did.
The one thing that niggles me is that I want the game to be truly epic. I hate games with time limits (however generous) and I would also love to see a TW game that crosses more than era - from Medieval right up to present day and beyond. Can you imagine how cool that would be? Being able to choose a starting era for each campaign or simply play through over 500 years of human history? Now THAT would be epic.
Can we have a Future: Total War now please??? The geek in me wants to see what happens if I try to take the Kremlin with a 20ft mech and genetically enhanced supersoldiers. How cool would that be?

Very cool. However, I'd be pleased to see a WWII and/or a Cold War TW before seeing a Future TW arrive. :)

I have my special forces edition arriving tomorrow and I just KNOW I won't be able to sleep tonight. No exaggeration, my most anticipated game of the last 2 years (The possible exception being the disappointing Fallout 3.) and I absolutely can't wait to get playing it!! :D
