PES 2009: First Wii details

After the disappointment of how awful FIFA 09 was I'm absolutely delighted to hear that Konami are not only sticking with the excellent control scheme from 2008 but are also improving it.

The designers at EA Sports really messed up FIFA 09, all they had to do is 'borrow' the Pro Evo control scheme and make the improvements that Konami are working on. With full licensing and Manager Mode it had the potential to be the best football game on the market. That crown, however, remains firmly on the head of Pro Evo and the next version sounds like it's going to be worth waiting for. I'm a very happy bunny :D

Those Wii shots look pretty good. Won't convince anyone here to get it over the 360/PS3 versons though.

I know a few people who really enjoyed PES on the Wii, but didn't buy it themselves because it didn't have the Master League.

So that's some good news...

so is this the definitive pes'09?

last years 360/ps3 versions almost killed the series for me: minimal updates apart from the new kits, dodgy framerate, broken ai,terrible online play etc...

i never played last/this years wii version but all accounts told of a sweet re-invention of an ailing franchise.

if the wii version's no good i'm done with pro evo for good (well all footy games actually but seeing as pro evo's the only one i'll be seen dead near...).

They could've touched the graphics a bit.

i play with the camera zoomed out as far as it will go so textures are the least of my worries.

true, replays will look a bit better but it has no effect on the game itself.

Yup, it should be the definitive version if Pro Evo 08 is anything to go by. I'd go as far as to say that Pro Evo 08 was worth buying a Wii for all on its own  Seriously, it was that good in comparison to the others (and I played all 3!). 8)
