EA cans C&C FPS Tiberium

Postby battles_atlas » 01 Oct 2008, 10:13

Who knows, if they keep this trend going for a few years they might actually develop some kind of positive associations with their brand. Though why FIFA escapes this process every year I don't know

EA cans C&C FPS Tiberium

Postby StonecoldMC » 01 Oct 2008, 10:15

I think we'll see this happening quite a lot, with the rising cost of developing a game, if after say 6 months its not coming together the way they hoped then getting 'canned' is inevtiable.

A shame but thats business.

Weel, to be honest, from what I've seen/heard of Tiberium so far, it was below par ikn every respect. So, I'm not at all surprised that it got canned.

Because it's their biggest franchise, and a guarenteed annual financial boost?

I think this is good news under the guise of bad news. Hopefully the focus will return to actual C&C games, instead of another FPS for an overflooded market.

Good that they don't want to release something that's crap.

Bad that people will lose their jobs as a result.

Not many studios can afford to can a game and swallow 6 months of dev costs. The more common approach would be "urgh... this isn't very good. Quick, push it out the door and recover whatever funds we can, then move on".

I'm more amazed that EA has some sort of quality control. I figured they push any old tripe out the door - just like many/most other publishers...

Maybe they were behind their strict turnaround for games development that they have supposed to have relaxed.

Wow. If EA weren't prepared to release it, it truly must have stank.

Why can this game if it's crap?

Just release it on the Wii instead.

Sorry, I couldn't resist :)
