Crytek hiring for PS3

Postby StonecoldMC » 17 Sep 2008, 10:26

I think we will see a lot more of this in the future, Crytek want to make as much money as possible and the console maret can give them that. Pretty sure GSC Game World have a partnership in place with MGS as well.

Good news all round me thinks.

This doesn't rule out a 360 version though, since they probably already have people to work on that conversion considering its so similar to the PC anyway. :)

Just bought a PS3 yesterday though so its no problem to me if it was exclusive to PS3. :D

I don't think this is the first time Crytek have advertised for PS3 developers, in fact as Farcry 2 is being released on the PS3 im sure its not.

eh? most games with performance requirements are C++, sometimes C which is faster but less portable/maintainable
C++ is a great language and very powerful

@ voodoo341. I don't think crytek have anything to do with FarCry 2, it's not even using cryengine 2.0 (i don't think). would be pretty cool 2 see what the game is like on consoles though because my pc aint ever gonna run that game!

Far Cry 2 is Ubisoft.

The console ports of crytek games have always been a bit rubbish, I would be surprised if it runs past medium.

bloody hell, I didn't know that. It's just put me right off Far Cry 2 now. I'm still sure I've seen something somewhere about Crytek taking on PS3 developers

@nologo

Obviously you've never worked with any game-engine in your life. probably a first year undergrad. c++ is the most widely used around for games. programming languages are not s**t just cause you can't program with them.

I would imagine that it's being developed for both consoles but they required extra manpower to deal with the PS3's troublesome interface.

They're probably trying to get the anti-aliasing up to the standard of the 360 model!
On best behaviour...

It'll definitely be released for the ps3 and 360.
The 360 will be a breeze to do, they'll definitely need more help with the ps3 port(even bioshock had to bring in various teams to do the ps3 port of that).

Having just upgraded my pc recently though, and seeing crysis run so well with everything on high, i can't believe for a moment that the ps3 or 360 versions will run as good as that.

The console versions will be great for people who don't own a decent pc though.
