Red Steel 2 online?

Postby maugrim2712 » 22 May 2007, 13:33

I'm looking forward to RS2. I enjoyed the first game a lot despite the controls, and if they fix that then the sequal will be a big winner. Also sort out the sword fighting bits.

Multiplayer is a must, it was really missing in the first game. If Metroid doesn't have online this needs a great one and it could be an automatic huge seller.

i was gutted when red steel didn't live up to expectations,so much potential-so little realised.ubisoft have had a good while with wii dev' kits now (not 'cube) and i hope that 'rs2' will,at least, start to realise that potential.

Nothing indicates it's a sequel of Red Steel and since Red Steel was rather mediocre anyway I don't see why websites keep trying to generate hype out of unfounded speculation. All we know is it utilises the Unreal Engine (like most Ubisoft titles regardless of platform anyway) so it could just as well be a brand new IP or a different Ubi IP brought to the Wii for the first time. Whatever, we'll see, but there's loads of uncovered game news out there, job ads are the last thing journalists should report.

if they actually use some of the wii's power in this one, it should be good.
And either sort out the sword fighting, or replace it with whack amole.

R.E. Alex : "it uses the unreal engine". which unreal engine? i've heard reports of people trying to get the unreal engine 3 running on wii even though it's more suited to high end p.c.'s and ps3/360,but as far as i was aware, right now,it's just that : reports.

2.5, duh. Same as the Splinter Cell titles, which have been ported down to PS2 level hardware, though the SC version is more heavily modified.

Edit: Actually, since you're asking about this new project, it doesn't say what version of the engine it will use, only that familiarity with Unreal technology is a plus for the person applying. My guess is it's once again 2.5 as I'm sure the Wii can't handle 3 without excluding so many things it would end up like 2.5 again anyway.

Sounds good
Fix the sword fighting bits though

and also...the character models are a bit lazy e.g. on multiplayer if you aim the pointer to the right for a right handed man using a pistol, the wrist looked...painfully positioned
Everyone sucks, just don't tell them

R.E. Alex : "engine 2.5,duh" what's with the sarcasm? i asked you a fair question seeing as you were cracking on that you knew the exact engine in use,i deffered to your (apparantly) greater wisdom and was met with scorn!? huh? to be fair to you i'm cool with sarcasm from people in the 'know' but you then went on to say that you DON'T know what you're on about (a bit of paraphrasiology, granted, but you get me) and that your statement was pure conjecture.

Eh? When did I ever pretend to know what engine version this new project uses you moron? All I said is that it uses Unreal Engine, not which version of it. Why else would they consider familiarity with Unreal Engine a plus? Given that, it's hardly speculation to state it uses Unreal based technology.

My first response stated version 2.5 of the engine because I assumed you were asking about the original Red Steel and not that you expected me to know all the details of an UNANNOUNCED and possibly just started project. Moreover, I corrected myself about that small potential misunderstanding long before you read and replied to the post so I don't see which part of what I said is "pure conjecture" to you.

moron? maybe.(yeah i know you've edited it since but...) but my original question was genuine,no sarcasm,no digs, just a question. i honestly thought that you knew something i didn't,apologies i was wrong, which drove the question : 'which engine?' 2nd time around you came over as a bit of a smartarse (to be frank)and i reacted accordingly.again apologies for any offence.

That's clearly not the part you were reffering to when you talked about "my statement" being pure conjeture hicky. What you quote is not a statement, it's clear speculation that doesn't pretend to be anything more than that and if it was the sentence you had in mind from the start then we wouldn't have had a conversation at all as you wouldn't have thought I know more than you do (which I did, just not as much as you seemed to want to ask). You're just grasping at straws now, too bad PColvin sports a brain of similar caliber to yours and can't realise it.

bring it on, go for full forum war! i don't care if it uses a lawn mower engine, as long as it plays better, looks better, and has a good online multi-player mode. capture the flag, by fragging the opposing team with japanese swords.
