I find the lack of positive rumors disturbing....

Agreed, unless they have a massive ace up their sleeve.

BC isn't exactly a big one for me though.

So according to rumours:

- I can't play my old Xbox and Xbox 360 games on it
- I've always got to be connected to the internet and to the MS servers to use it (which one day will be turned off)
- The controller is almost identical to the old one
- It's going to cost me £400
and Kinect will be spying on me for marketing research the entire time.

The system uses bluray no backwards compatibility is obvious.

If all these rumours were aimed at Nintendo there would have been a mutiny by now. This is likely true, but isnt a big deal at all, the PS4 doesnt offer BC either, and MS are apparently releasing a £70 xbox 360 to allow people to carry on playing their 360 games long after the nextbox is here.

My PS3 plays DVDs and PS1 games.

Doesnt play ps2 games though do it

The fact it doesn't play PS2 games has nothing to do with it having a Bluray drive as was inferred by the poster I quoted.

What can this 70 quid 360 do that my current Slim 360 can't do?

You were inferring that the ps3 did backwards compatibility despite using a different media type, which it doesnt for ps2 games, so my point is equally valid.

For everyone upset by this, you should only be upset if you currently have a library of 360 games. If that's the case, keep your 360 and get the new Xbox for new games. I personally would like to play my collection of 40+ games on the new Xbox, but it's not a deal breaker that it doesn't. I didn't expect it to feature backwards compatibility anyway.

No I wasn't. I was stating that a Bluray drive didn't hinder backwards compatibility. I can't even begin to get where you got the idea I was implying anything else. The original PS3s played PS2 games, did they have two separate drives?

Yeah, I've got over 70 or so games in my collection. Drives the Mrs crazy as they take up so much room... but I love sifting through them! Just wish I'd never got rid of my old consoles- I'd have to have a seperate room to hoarde them all in.
Would be nice for the next Xbox to be backward compatible but hey ho- I don't plan on upgrading for a good 12 months after the new machines are out anyway.
