GAME taking Ouya pre-orders for £100

Postby FinalBillybong » 28 Mar 2013, 11:49

This is starting to interest me. I'm currently between Netflix solutions and am wondering if this will be any good for that and spot of light gaming in between.

Not only £100 but £100 a year if you want the latest version... I can see them updating every year & if you have the older model not being able to play certain games because of the update.. yknow like smartphones :P

Not only £100 + another £40 if you want a 2nd controller but thats £100 per year if you want the latest version & whats the betting that once the updated model comes out certain games will only be playable on the updated console... yknow like smartphones lol

I knew fools like these would charge £100, you can still buy it on their kickstarter page for $99 + $20 shipping = £80
I had better put a Donk on it then!

Ouya is expected to go on sale in early June in the US, where it will be stocked at major retailers including Amazon, GameStop and Best Buy priced at $99.99

Last i checked $99 = around £65, they must have broken abacuses over the the ol GAME stores

Its a good idea but I can't see it taking off, especially in this age of everything in one machine.

That's great but add the £12 royal mail fee for Customs collection and then the 17.5% import duty (Unless Ouya are prepared to ship the item and declare its value as under $30 and a gift to avoid customs charges which counts as Mail fraud in the US) and the prices are more or less the same.

The total price you see is rarely the price you pay when you import items above the customs threshold I have been buying import games since the SNES and unless you are buying from a private individual very few companies will lie on the Customs declaration forms. You might get away with it a few times but eventually your stuff will get taxed and its a horrible feeling to see what little money you were saving buying it from the US get eaten up by Royal mail and the taxman

if i anted to play mobile phone games id do it on my mobile phone, besides the ps4 is looking indie friendly at the moment and steam has been quite good for indies too. I dont mind indies but im not so into em id buy a console dedicated to em that requires a yearly update and takes full advantage of rip off Britain.

Ha! I ain't going to pay £100 for a android based system. Now £75 i would, because you know that's how much it would of cost me to get the US unit.
I came here to have me ass kicked and my bubble gum stolen. So I am definitely out of gum.

£100 is a fair price but £40 for a controller is insane, typical game. To be honest though, I can get a wii mote for a tenner on ebay, sync it to my android tablet and use a HDMI outlet to basically get the same experience.
