Battlefield 4 site confirms Shanghai setting

Postby richomack360 » 23 Mar 2013, 22:16

What's the release date for this game in China ?

I have a funny feeling this game will either involve North Korea in there somewhere or focus on a conflict involving Japan and China over those small islands (disputed) with the US stepping in waving its flag.

Let's hope they set it as far into the future as reasonable that will allow a fairly decent naval conflict - at the moment China only have one carrier, and that was a breaker's piece from the Soviets.

Who knows

Never, unless EA China make it a different game altogether.

Blimey, imagine that...having to pay for bullets - only a matter of time. That and actually starting the game completely naked, where you have to purchase clothes for your soldier. what if you could only afford one boot ? They would hear you a mile off...any way I had better calm down, might get accused of "hating" BF !

John Ricitello (or whatever his last name is) was saying it in a conference call. If the next CEO is anything to go by then the future is bleak.

How exactly are aircraft carriers new to the series?

Hmmm, if this is set in the future as it looks like it'll be (I'm tired of the modern setting for FPSes). It looks like it'll be closer towards that BF 2142 type setting which could make for an easy BF 2142 type expansion like how they did Vietnam for Bad Company 2. That would definitely please a lot of people wanting a BF 2143 sort of sequel/remake thing like they did with BF 1943.

I don't know, I'm just throwing stuff out there.

Considering they were in the very first entry in the series, it's new... if "new" means "old and making a return."

Sounds more like they read the script to Black Ops 1 and thought "wow, Black Ops 2 has a unique and interesting setting where a possible world super power destroys all!", maybe they read Homefront's? Either way, not buying this.

Cool choice imo, I'll probably pick this up because of it (game has to be good though). I skipped BF3 because the setting seemed the same as every other war shooter.

And it pretty much was. Superior to others some might say, but still pretty much the same thing and its single player campaign made MW3's look like a masterpiece (it wasn't by the way, unless you feel the eptimany of culture is the mindless, unfeeling slaughter of as many people as possible).

Basically, I think it's time we all just accepted that modern war shooters have run their course and have now entered the EA sports regime of yearly updates with very little added of any real note. It's really about time that games like this came clean and just be subscription services, they'd probably make even more money that way an' all.
