EA 'axes Dead Space 4' as series misses sales targets

First Medal of Honor, and now Dead Space... EA are just awful at this. Forcing developers to take a respectable IP down the road of micro-transactions, tacked on multiplayer, forced gameplay mechanics and "me too" bullet lists. Eugh.

Why do you think DS3 underperformed EA?
We wanted horror not action ffs!
Pee on your fanbase and your sales suffer, it makes me so bloody angry.
Put Dead Space on the shyte heap along with Resident Evil :-(

Another Successful franchise lost to EA’s demands for mainstream monotonous gameplay. They really are the disease of the gaming world.

Thats what happens when you shun the fans who made the series successful in the hopes of attracting the fickle Call of Duty crowd. Hopefully a reboot down the line can bring the series back to its proper horror roots, for now im happy to let it die.

I thought you said that consumers had embraced Microtransactions eh EA? eh? eh? Surely a AAA game with them should be selling like hot cakes!

And I thought changing tact and going for the Call of Duty audience was supposed to be the "natural progression" for the series. Way to destroy an IP EA.

EA 'axes Dead Space 4' as series misses sales targets

I for one am glad that there will not be another installment in the franchise because the first 2 were good games but 3 went for more action instead of what the franchise done well which was survival horror.

EA 'axes Dead Space 4' as series misses sales targets

Postby turricantg » 05 Mar 2013, 12:20

Ive not played the last Dead Space.

For this simply reason...When I heard that there would be another Dead Space. my thoughts were " Great, I wonder how much this will cost me".

Then when I heard it was Dead Space 3 I got really excited that EA would bring out a classic game for free.

So I went down to my local Game and told them I would like my copy of Dead Space free...They hippy looking guy then told me that would cost me £45...I was shocked and told him why was it called Dead Space free if you had to pay for it.

He then explained it was called Dead Space 3 as it was the follow-up to the others in the series.

I feel cheated and let down by EA by this and they should clearly tell people what they mean by the words 3 and free.

Im glad the have ditched Dead Space for..As some people like me might get this mixed up with a golf game where the golfers shout the word fore when hitting the ball.

Dead Space Golf......You heard it here first.

Really not surprised, EA ruined this series with this entry to the franchise.
I came here to have me ass kicked and my bubble gum stolen. So I am definitely out of gum.

I can see a lot of EA's games going the same way as Dead Space if they insist on infesting them with micro transactions, they should leave that crap to IOS and Android.

The games only been out a month, how can you expect 5 million sales in a month? Madness says I.

Heard on the grapevine there will be a dead space golf though, anyone else heard this rumour?
Some say he's half man, half fish. Others say its more of a 70/30 split. Whatever the percentage, he's one fishy bastard.

Calm down people - didn't most of you want DS3 to fail ? Now you have it you are now complaining the franchise has been "taken out of rotation". People were also asked to vote with their wallets, they have (23% down on previous) now EA are scum for scrapping the series?

What did you want EA to do ? Return the series to how Ds1 was, possibly lose money on it, complain about microtransactions to recoup revenue, then whine about DLC

Gamers are so fickle, its starting to get so utterly frustrating to read some of the drivel on here sometimes.

I haven't played any of the Dead Space's but I assume they took a similar course to Mass Effect?
An amazing original, an even better second then tinker with the 3rd, change its formula, appeal to the masses and as seen....
Mess it up in a way.
