Japanese Vita sales have quadrupled, Sony claims

Postby Taus » 05 Mar 2013, 11:13

It's a great console and deserves to achieve a degree of success

Hopefully Sony can turn this around in US and EU

If Sony wakes up with its high pricing, the Vita in Europe and the US should do really well. But all them cross format games isn't going to do it any favours. More games and more exclusives is what it also needs.

Damn right... It's a terrific machine, its only fault is the price - not just the machine, but the memory cards as well. If Sony cuts it down and manages to create interesting bundles it definitely can reverse its fortunes. My nephews have one and their friends are envious as hell. It's a crowd that's too young to get an iPhone but (wrongly) consider themselves too old for a 3DS, and Sony could very well attract this audience. Bring on original Metal Gear Solids, GTAs and Bioshocks and it's gonna be a hit.

Great, now all Sony needs to do is to drop the price of the Vita and that 32GB memory card in Europe.

Only £139?!?! I would buy 10 of them at that price!:P lol + It's just a shame it wasn't a WORLDWIDE price cut[& one for the PS3 to, say £149.99 for the PS3(Yep, the 500GB version) & £99.99 for the 12GB version] Then you would see PSVita & PS3 sales go MENTAL & SONY would sell more content for the PSVita & PS3 & everyone will be happy[well apart from the internet haters i guess] lol [+ even if we got a price cut in the UK we would only get f**ked by VAT & TAX etc etc so the price wouldn't be as good as it should be, oh well] :-/

People shouldn't complain of the price, it's more than 3DS for a reason.. it's more powerful.

Excellent, a £50 discount will make those consumers feel a whole lot better about forking out for a system with no games.

Well i traded my WI-FI one in last weekend at GAME, i never use the damn thing, there havent been any new games that have caught my eye, every time i look at the section in Game or HMV etc etc, the stand remains the same.

I have had the thing for a year or so and find it such a wasted opportunity.

A shame.

Back to PC gaming.

I know a bunch of people here in Japan who were waiting for a price cut on the Vita and I doubt they were alone. There have also been a lot of ads here recently - Sony are pushing it hard in Japan right now, and they have a slew of quality games coming out here like Soul Sacrifice and Tales of Hearts R.

It's a great peace of kit. The games are starting to come out for it, so a price drop will improve sales. I've had mine since day one. It's the only console I've bought on release date and I've no regrets.

Just got mine yesterday from GAME preowned for £104 and I am more than happy with it. With PS plus I had it arrive with 4 games out of the box (all for £134 including the massivly overpriced 16GB memory card). Granted the vita games are slightly lacking but there are a few good games in the coming months, also the wealth of ps1 and psp games out there is always a bonus...

I have no problem with the price of PSvita.
I payed £180 for a vita and a game, and is worth every penny, and will be an even better machine once PS4 arrives.

My only problem is £70 for a 32GB memory card. You can pick up a 64GB Micro SD cord for around £15 to £20 on ebay.

Im currently swapping games from my PC hard drive to my 4GB Vita card, which is pissing me off
