HMV closing 37 more UK stores

Bloody Nora, how many did Heathrow need? How many people leaving the country really need Jethros latest dvd?
Some say he's half man, half fish. Others say its more of a 70/30 split. Whatever the percentage, he's one fishy bastard.

The shops used to hide the Jethro DVD's in people's bags to get rid of them out of the UK

I'm personally gutted about the T5 one closing, often picked things up on my way home to Spain. They have a lot of good offers. I'd regularly spend 50 quid on Blu rays, DVD's and music CD's.

It was always quite busy too and the place that sold those things. Plus you would be surprised how many people bought stuff in it.

Looks like amazon will benefit more.

Shame to see the Stockport one go, that was one of the better stores.

Bugger, that's my local one going.

I got my Dreamcast and Shenmue from there so will always have a good memory of it for the day I walk past and see it's become a Primark or Streetwise Sports. Then again I got my Xbox from there as well and they had no games, so I was left playing a demo of Fuzion Frenzy on launch day. That balances that good memory right out.
Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to stay on my toes.

The closure of their East Kilbride shop has knocked me sideways.

That's the nail in the coffin of Newport high street then. Such a shame that I won't be able to pick up a battered, second hand copy of a game for £10 more than a new one would cost me online... or buy an iPod docking station shaped like a cow. Once upon a time they sold a good selection of CDs, and the price difference compared to online retailers was small enough that you'd be prepared to pay that little bit more to have it there and then...

Oh brilliant!! No more impulse DVD purchases for the kids then. Just went into my local one and you could cut the atmosphere with a blunt spoon. With the stock that was left on the shelves I doubt they will last th 4-6 weeks thats been predicted until they close.

Bugger!

remember you can only shop in 1 terminal, you can't move between them. depends on which airline your flying with, So having a store in every terminal makes sense.

With the Middlesbrough store closing, that means the whole of the county (Teesside / Cleveland) doesn't have a HMV store. Can't say I'm too bothered. Selling chart DVDs for £13, that can be bought for under £10 in supermarkets says it all.

The day after the first closures were announced, the staff in my local store were playing "Things can only get better" by D:ream and "Don't you forget about me" by Simple Minds. 8)

And the Stafford store bites the dust :( with JJB and Waterstones already closed above and next to HMV the Guildhall is going to look empty up that end..

I love getting Blu-rays from there too, only place I can look at more than the top 10 in the charts.
