Crysis 3 review round-up: 'Gulf between PC and console is ti

Postby clayf1ghter » 19 Feb 2013, 15:24

"Kotaku: No - Lovely graphics aside, Crysis 3 is a mostly mediocre shooter in which fancy visuals faintly disguise haphazard design and a lack of technical polish"

I like this style of review just a simple yes or no, make it easy for the reader :)

... and a 'maybe' to confuse the hell out of us.

Crysis could be the prettiest girl in the world, but if she has nothing interesting to say, it ends up being a fling as opposed to a love affair.

The CVG summary review on this page is worryingly similar to games master uk review summary in the pc section on metacritic, also scored 85???

One thing that is good about the company Crytek is that they put the effort into the PC version. One of the few companys to do so.

To max it out they are assuming you want to run it at max on 3 monitors.

Using a GTX 690 which is the power of two 680s you will destroy this at 2560 x 1440 on Ultra settings using a decent monitor. The card is a steal at £700! If you wanted to run three monitors you could still run at high/very high.

I run BF3 at these settings no problem and am yet to be convinced that there are better graphics out there, FC3 was very wishy washy even at this resolution.

Why can't this game gave the addictibility element of Halo or COD? It appears crytek are so focused on the single player, storyline and graphics, graphics, graphics that multiplayer keeps getting overlooked.

We all get it. It looks GREAT.

Given for me the disappointment of Halo 4 (and for many others) I'm looking for a replacement shooter with that multiplayer competitive element. This is your chance crytek to take hold of that audience and do something really social, engaging and competitive with multiplayer.

Will definatly check this out as I loved the 1st and 2nd from a solo play point, however...

MULTIPLAYER, MULTIPLAYER, MULTIPLAYER, MULTIPLAYER. Focus on multiplayer functionality and features please CRYTEK. Upgrades, level designs competitive ranking systems. Create competitive playlists like Solo, Doubles, Team, Big Team etc etc. This series has so much potential - now please make it addictive.

I don't know what the hell you're talking about, the multiplayer in Crysis 3 is terrific.

Using that analogy, would that not be a 'Yes'??

Besides, I'm not looking to marry a video game, I just want to have some fun then move on to the next game when I get bored :D

I will definitely buy it... When the retail price comes down to a tenner, that's all crysis is worth for me. After crysis 2 fiasco paid at full launch price, nah not doing it again!!!

Played the demo of Crysis 3 and thought it looked like s**t. Its easily one of the worst looking games I've played on PS3. Hit detection was even worse.

Crysis series is basically a graphics fest with barely any gameplay but on consoles it has neither graphics or gameplay. Avoid this game.
