Half-Life/Portal movies are 'real', in early planning stages

Let's hope it doesn't collapse like the original Deus-Ex movie and Bioshock then. Hollywood are very timid when it comes to splashing the cash on a movie franchise.
Optimus Prime: I want you to go in that bag, and find my wallet.
Megatron: Which one is it?
Optimus Prime: It's the one that says Bad motherf**ker

I think any Portal film would be better made on a small budget anywhere but Hollywood. "Cube" was made with a small budget and was very well done (though "Cube Zero" is probably the better one of the three). Probably as close to a Portal sort of movie as you might get today.

Oh for f**k sake!

Hollywood has finally ran out of rom-coms and reboots so now they're targeting established games.
EA Sports: It's in the game(for a price).

I think you meant Star Trek director, not Star Wars. It wasn't a bad film, but the odds of doing a good film based on a video game must be astronomically small, as Mr Spock might say :) .

Nah he's also working on Star Wars Episode VII as director and producer.

Why the hell does this stupid hack get work? He already ruined Star Trek... then he was given Star Wars to screw with. Now this. I usually like Valve, but giving anything to Abrams is a colossal mistake. He's one of the worst producer/directors out there as far as messing with original source material.

I think if you portrayed glados as being this sort of really dark and emotionless thing, and dropped a lot of the humor, and made the experiments into more of a terrifying exploration of the human condition, and turned it into sort of a negative dystopia thing without making the movie too "hollywood" and devoid of substance...you'd have a really amazing film. But, I suspect something more like starship troopers without the irony of how bad it is...or the island...where the dystopia is forced down the viewer's throat.
