It's the first 30 minutes of the game so if you want to go into it fresh then I wouldn't.

Looks fantastic. If you don't want to watch it I'd recommend not to. Rest assured if you're a GoW fan it looks like you'll be happy with this. :D

been excited for this since it was announced but i was worried it couldn't live up to the fantastic god of war 3....... how wrong i was this looks to be even better! my worries have been silenced cant wait till march 15

Got to be honest, I still don't get what people see in God of War. Yes it's pretty but it genuinely couldn't get any more linear, scripted or on rails. It's 1 path with a few turns and pretty wallpaper. Yes that can be used very well but it's not my thing here. To me, in this context, freedom is needed. It's a smart way to make a gorgeous game but with that considered it's not that impressive. To my mind Trine 2 is better looking in that sense.
It has its crazy gore and at certain moments that's great ie. when you see a blade cut a direct gash, but those most impressive bits are all cutscenes or scripted QTE's, slow mo etc. Most of the time it's just silly huge blood sprays and no actual visible damage. How much blood does Kratos have in his face for instance? Magical the way it goes through his skin leaving no mark too!
I get what it's going for and I know all games have silly damage blah blah, I could just never get behind the execution(no pun intended) here. It goes for gore but then it makes it silly, there's no wounding and the blood is cartoony. It goes for gritty but then it's not. It goes for brutal hard hitting but then it ends up just slash fest. Million hits - no visible damage. 1 QTE - strangled with own organs.
If they had Kratos fighting a billion bad dudes or even just a few big dudes, with his blades literally doing what they do in the QTE's and carving a non scripted bloody path through the enemy, even if still linear to accomodate it - that'd be impressive and make for a better gameplay experience (to my mind) and a staggering tech display. As it is, it's like Street Fighter (mash mash mash - no damage) combined with Quake 2 combat (2 shots in the leg fine, 3 shots - super dead) and wrapped in a wallpaper made of everything the console can punch out.

I see endless potential but none of it used. They've got a team who could do it but can't be arsed perhaps. Instead it's like Jason and the Argonauts rewritten by people who think Hans Zimmer is the greatest composer of all time, who toss around the word "epic" and "brutal" too much and are so used to violence that killing people multiple times without them dying is the only thing that'll do.


NOTE: THIS IS SIMPLY MY HONEST PERSONAL VIEW. I COULDN'T GET INTO IT EVEN ON THE PS2, IT'S NOT FANBOY BS. IF YOU WANT CHUCK ME ANOTHER GAME SERIES NAME, I'LL RIP IT TO SHREDS IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER. (Suggestions probably guessable)

Indeed it is, lends itself to that very well though. Can't really see it working any other way. Not aware of anyone liking any of the attempts to make it work any other way :lol:
Linear doesn't = bad, I just feel that with a series set to that scale it needs to at least FEEL more random, sudden, huge, dynamic in the pathing. Very hard to do really but hey.
