Dell?, people usually buy the cheapy PC's from them instead of building their own right?

Then find out it's slow as a slug a year or 2 later only to want to buy another

With someone like MS pulling the strings, they could restructure Dells business model which in turn may restructure consumers purchasing trends.

It's certainly an interesting move by MS.

Not exactly sure why this is gaming news? If we saying, it's because MS bought it, then I heard the Sony bought a big mac meal, is that gaming news? If it's because Dell products can play games on it, then that's also a bit of a tenuous link too.

Dell make shite laptops overall imo , not that anyone asked my opinion lol

People forget this though, they posted 1 loss in their whole history and only for one quarter and according to the people who know everything about nothing on here they are going down the plughole.

Just Google the amount of cash reserves MS have its eye watering, they could buy up most of the games industry and still have change. This is chicken feed as was the Skype purchase, its also a sensible move if they want into hardware.

It's not as though theyre broke, but if you read financial articles, they clearly at cross roads in many ways. Windows 8 is still heavily derided(awful imo, I made them refund mine), they are not the biggest OS in world anymore, as IOS and Android are found on most tablet devices and phones, and these devices are growing market, whilst businesses dont want to upgrade beyond xp half the time, let alone windows 7, and various other factors suggest, theyre not the player they once were, and they have to be careful and clever in their direction.

That's not a MS hating post, just stuff Ive read off various articles on BBC business section when bored at work(only website we can use is bbc lol)

You must work in the same place as me lol Without doubt MS are having to take a deeper look at what direction they are going, but it would be a fool who would doubt their ability to go in the right direction and take over.

Just use the Xbox as an example, in 2 generations they have went from nothing to competing at the top, and when the nextbox is released there is every possibility they could take over completely only a fool would doubt that as a possible outcome.

They clearly have a direction in mind and the purchase of Skype and its integration into everything they own makes it obvious.

Not saying they are, but a 10 billion dollar outlay in a short space of time is a large chunk for any company to take - and seem to be direction changers rather than additions
