End of the line for THQ

Postby Panou » 23 Jan 2013, 21:28

Patrice Désilets, in June 2010: "Adios Ubisoft, we're not on the same wavelength anymore, I'm going to work at THQ Montréal now!"

January 2013: Ubisoft purchases THQ Montréal.

End of the line for THQ

Postby toaplan » 23 Jan 2013, 21:31

If you are an employee of an entity that is not included in the sale, we regret that
your position will end.

So as things stand, it seems to be the end of the line for Vigil and the Darksiders franchise :(

That is something I want them to clarify. Is it the end of Vigil thus the end of Darksiders. Or when they say:
"Some assets, including our publishing businesses and Vigil, along with some other intellectual properties are not included in the sale agreements,"

Does that mean THQ still exist to a point, mostly as a publishing firm with one development studio that being Vigil and one game IP being the Darksiders series.

Or does it mean that it is all over for them and they couldn't find a buyer.

Also WWE no announcement on that. Surprised, but maybe the buyer (my guess being EA) want to leave it for some massive big announcement in their own time
I came here to have me ass kicked and my bubble gum stolen. So I am definitely out of gum.

I would have thought somebody bigger than Koch Media would buy Volition.

I realise I've just left that open for an easy "Koch are big" type of reply but I'm too busy watching Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network to care.

Would have been nice for Saints Row and its developers to be kept together though.

don't go by the koch name they publish games through deep silver, and its a massive list but few top quality games.

I've played some on that list. Namely Back to the Future, Risen 2, Dead Island and Catherine. It does seem like a strange buy from them though, I was expecting Volition to go to one of the bigger names.

What or who is "Evolve". Can't say it rings a bell. Did a quick Google search and it just gave me the makers of Motorstorm, Evolution.

yeah id say their trying to brake into that market they don't have a GTA style game, so in that regard it makes sense to get saints row, the brand is not a big seller as such but the name alone probably cost a huge amount and put of others.

Evolve = unannounced game, most likely next gen, it must be special to fork out cash for it.

Can someone please explain what's happening with the Saints Row ip/dev then. It's not specifically mentioned, but I assume it's covered somewhere.

No more Darksiders then I take it?

As for Saints Row: "Koch Media agreed to purchase Volition and Metro". Volition makes SR.
