Disney Infinity 'interactive gaming platform' revealed, take

Postby kabber » 15 Jan 2013, 21:44

that actually looks like something i would play (given the fact that i'm 17 and the game looks set for 3+/7+ rating)
also somthing that i could see compete well and above with skylanders.
I like the overall idea. so can't wait to see more (properbly at E3)
and if it will be a "liscenced version of a 3D-ish LBP" which i would really hope for.
this could get big. :)

If I was 10 I'd be all over this, especially when the Star Wars universe is added!

Although I dont usually support obvious rip-offs. I was hoping pokemon would do it more than disney. Simply for the 3D world aspect, not the figures.
blah blah blah blah blah, I don't care about your clever response, only proves me right.

I'm just going to repeat what I said in general gaming.

HOLY f**king s**t

It looks brill already, it's made by the Toy Story 3 game developers, the potential is almost unlimited.

A bit more info.

- 17 initial characters
- characters cost $13 a piece
- $75 “starter pack”
- only able to play characters within the levels based on their franchise
- buying new figurines will unlock entirely new levels
- Toybox mode lets all characters come together
- plans to sell “power discs” — RFID chips set in a small piece of plastic
- these can add new items into Toybox mode
- other discs will augment the game characters when you place them between the figure and the interface
- a disc with Wreck-It Ralph’s face on it will give that character more physical strength
- power discs will be sold in blind packages: $5 gets you two random discs
- developed by Avalanche
- playing through the various “playset” levels will let you unlock hundreds of new toys and parts to play with in ToyBox
- ToyBox lets you build obstacles, spawn enemies and even reposition the game’s camera
- invite friends to check out your creations online
- Disney will monitor content to see what will be allowed to share and what will be blocked
- on Wii U version: “Touch sensitivity, drag-and-drop, point-and-click is really powerful for the building modes.”
- hopes to add two-player split-screen play, with one player using the GamePad while another plays on the TV
- dev team only has a month left to get the Wii U version up to speed
- plans are in the works for Infinity 2

I like the idea of dual screen play on the Wii u.

Looks interesting. Sure activision won't be best pleased though ho ho.

Always thought this sort of thing was well suited to gamesworkshop/world of warcraft. (Are they the same thing?) anyhow something which already has the little figures.
Some say he's half man, half fish. Others say its more of a 70/30 split. Whatever the percentage, he's one fishy bastard.

Does this not strongly suggest we will be getting a sequel to the Incredibles finally?!
Seeing as Monsters' University and PoTC 5 are already announced sequels this could be a tentative step by Disney to remind kids the Incredibles is awesome. We can only hope!

So easy to see how Disney will make there money back on the payout to George Lucas on this and other products in the star wars universe when the inevitable star wars figures turn up.
This already looks like an absolute smasher in its own right, however i predict that Disney will get there cheque book out for some more big purchases, this really is the time to buy cool IP and i reckon Disney are going to splash out on.........wait for it.....SEGA , mark my words , within two years :D .
Hey its Martin A , not Martina by the way, cheers

Can't lie, this does sound very interesting, a helluva lot more than that bastardized version of Spyro. Make a completely separate Star Wars version and I'll probably buy it.
However, can't help but feel this is dragging consoles back to being nothing more than "toys", which I like to think they aren't anymore.
