Anarchy Reigns Review: Hardly Platinum standard, but builds

Your comments on our articles.

It's Anarchy in the UK (finally) - but is Platinum Games' surreal scrapper worth the wait?

After the poise and grace of their last beat-'em-up Bayonetta, Platinum Games delivers a very different kind of fighter in Anarchy Reigns - one that's clunkier and cruder and yet somehow every inch as stylish as their previous work. This, then, is ballet of a brawnier kind.... read more

I got this game early from Zavvi, this game is a beat em up bad boy. It did remind me of Powerstone and oddly enough Streets of Rage/Megadrive era. I did manage to get in a big 16 player ruckus yesterday. I've also won a couple of matches, Jack and Leo all the way! Woo!

It hasn't arrived yet, but I bought it off of Amazon for £17- surely that should factor somewhat into the review? If it's remotely Power Stone-esque I'm probably going to love it. Lack of split screen is a bit of a cop out but what the hell.

Having had the game for months i have to say CVG cant review for s**t.

Missable campain. Its bloody epic. Its one insane boss fight after another. The run up can be a little tiresome but it all works to get you ready for the online game and if thats not enough you can play mp with bots untill you're ready for the manaics on the servers.

Also i can accurately compare it to another game. Madworld it's, its bloody sequel.

Not one to just run my mouth though. Here's my review from a few months ago.

Great review Monkey- I'm getting the 360 version so am now a little worried about the lack of people playing online. The '2 Best Friends Play' on YouTube are hyping the game and have garnered a lot of interest so hopefully come release the online modes will be a bit more substantial.

It's an online game. Same as the weak campaigns in CoD and BF3 etc. I'm sure there will be enough people online to make it playable, maybe not for the more casual fan (I mean in terms of someone not putting loads of time to learn the game), but for people who really want to get in to it.

At around £15, even if someone only gets a few months out of it, it's pretty good value to me. I agree that the online focus is a risk given the relative low sales of Platinum's games, but the single player is shite on loads of games that are well reviewed, and if people don't want to play it, it doesn't become a poor game - it might not be a worthwhile purchase however, which is fair enough. Relatively few people bought Vanquish and Bayonetta and they're two of my fave games this gen.

Online will be full of high ranked players, because it's not out here until today. Once the non importing EU players get in to it (who haven't had six months to level up), I'm sure it will become more accessible. Still this is only one person's opinion, I just never seem to agree with CVG's when it comes to games like 'these' - they're too in awe of bombast style AAA games. EG, Destructoid and Game Central I generally agree with, and they've all reviewed it very positively.

I'm on 360 too MrP, I'm not sure if I've got you on my friend list? Feel free to add me if you want!
