Oh god, from a bad company to a dreadful one. Ubisoft have some great IP's, and creative teams, but their products are ruined by idiotic management. DLC up the arse and promising games ruined by crappy extras put there only to enable sequels (im looking at you Assassins Creed). EA get a lot of hate but they would be a far better company to take over. Vast resources and talent, and with a renewed emphasis on providing quality products.

Ubisoft are no better than EA or Activision. They are slowly closing in on Activision in regards to whoring out an IP, and like EA did with Origin Ubisoft have decided that all PC gamers should use their crappy Uplay client.

Their Uplay client alone is enough of a reason for me not to support Ubisoft games. If they ever want people to take them seriously, they need to remove that silly "download your game within 30 days of purchase or pay us extra to get an extension to the time" rule. Removal of that always on DRM was one step in the right direction though.

I'd agree on UPlay but whoring out their IP?

Yes Assassins Creed is annualised but Far Cry isn't, Splinter Cell isn't, Ghost Recon isn't, Rayman isn't. That's off top of my head.

They also invest in interesting new IP's like Watch_Dogs and put out quality smaller titles on PSN/XBLA like From Dust. Don't remember last time Activision did either of these (Bungie's Destiny aside).

Really Ubisoft are worse than both of them. You want terrible drm and sections of games cut to sell back as dlc. You know most of the hideous shovelware on the wii was published by ubisoift.

It's a moot point anyway because unless Ubisoft put in a bid highter than $60 mill the deal will go through with the equity firm and THQ will carry on as normal just with a differnt set of board members.

If they had to get bought by another company i'd prefer it to be Take 2 or Nintendo. They'd leave the devs alone to create the games they wanted to and focus on quality and what makes sense for the game over everything else.

Bit worried about Ubi, they seem pretty greedy, I mean the way they whored out Assassin's Creed is not cool AT ALL! Although they have been prepared to innovate, I mean, watch dogs looks good amongst other stuff they have, all we can do is hope that if they acquire some IPs, they trreeat them with the respect they deserve *warhammer, saints row etc)

Errr no thanks, nothing against Ninty but some of those Ubi games being exclusive only to Ninty hardware, just no. 8)

The industry has seen some huge buyout deals in recent years, but now nobody can afford to bid more than $60 million for THQ?

EA, for example, paid $750 million for Popcap in 2011.

Activision is sitting on over 3 billion cash and equivalents, so +100 million would be nothing for them. Saints Row at least would be a good fit for them and with Acti's resources could turn into an even bigger franchise than it already is.

I did say an IP not their, and yes Assassins creed is catching CoD up when it comes to milking a franchise. As for Far Cry, the first was done by Crytek the second was spoiled by some p**s poor design choices and the third was amazing. The other games apart from Rayman are so-so, and my main point was that at the end of the day Ubisoft are no better than EA/Activision.
