That would potentially be the greatest game ever made.

Rockstar wants to put all GTA cities in one game

Postby TheCrimsonFenix » 14 Dec 2012, 01:47

Albeit a limited version of it..... yeah no s**t?

Hopefully they'd have enough of a story and set of activities and missions to fill those cities up with. I'd rather they have them connected in some way rather than just having you fly to separate islands. I know the chosen cities aren't exactly near each other in real life but connecting them could include even more vast explorable terrain akin to the desert and countrysides.

Rockstar wants to put all GTA cities in one game

Postby Welsh Jester » 14 Dec 2012, 01:53

This is a good idea, but my problem is with longevity of the main game. I feel it would need to have a sufficient amount of missions, for instance the first Saints Row game only had 30 odd missions, for this to work there would need to be at least 50 missions per city.

GTA san andreas would be too big, so would need a lot more.. i doubt R* would seriously put almost 200 missions in it.

However the multiplayer potential for a PC version could be huge, as with V though i'm hoping R* don't screw it up.

If they can achieve that, then I'm all for it. But for now, I just want my GTA V. Baby steps.

I think we are getting close (if not already) to the level where it could be possible, technology wise. However for now, just my GTA V please.

I would love this, but how practical would it be? Even on BluRay it would take a shed load of disks, but give it a go R* ill buy it no matter what ;)

Nah, it's rockstar :P

They could have all the cities but that won't make it better. Unless they spend 10 years developing it it'll be mostly barren. I think san andreas only just got away with it, much larger and it'll be very diluted.

I can't complain about the size of any of their games. Bigger doesn't mean better.

As amazing an achievement as that would be, I think that would probably be too big for most gamers. One of my pet hates is getting into the last third of a game and it starting to drag. Unless there were genuinely interesting new game mechanics or an incredibly solid story, I don't think a game could support that much content. I suppose multiplayer might be a way to open that up.

Don't know if I want them to go back to Vice City at any time period other than the 1980's, the original Vice City is probably one of my favourite games of all time, I loved the look of it, the music and the stories.

Although saying that, modern day Vice City could spoof CSI Miami, Burn Notice, Dexter etc, which might be good

Nah, they will have some excuse like they did with IV by saying they want a smaller place with more details.. wouldn't surprise me if that means they make another engine and go back to Vice City since it's tiny.

I believe this to be the future of GTA, no doubt. But I also believe we should think outside the standard SP mission 'box' here, like say; with next gen tech it may be possible to create a game like this much more dynamic. Both in the way of the player changing the environment permanently in the game, but also in the way of the game engine in it self creating new 'missions' and changes in the environment so that you, the player, need to take action and do new things/ missions/ races/ heists/ gangwars/ business transactions and actually make proper use of earned money in-game etc.
