Gearbox's shooter locks, loads, and readies itself for the doubting masses

It's mad that we're only now getting hands-on with the single-player mode in Aliens: Colonial Marines, a game announced by a series of flaming beacons on mountain tops (or however people spread the word back in 2007). And for some, it's a bit of a worry.... read more

My enthusiasm's been tempered a bit, after reading this. Hopefully they can sort out those issues.

i think this game will be ok for the single player, but that multiplayer mode looks rubbish.

Xeno-blast: Hands-on with the Aliens: Colonial Marines campa

Postby Uzi77 » 11 Dec 2012, 19:06

Article:
...a canonical sequel to Aliens, set just after the events of Alien 3...

Video:
...So, chronologically this takes place between Aliens and Alien 3? Correct, yes...

So which is it?

I really hope this turns out well, especially the Co-Op.

Ditto. Hoping Gearbox manages to polish this game quite a bit before release - especially the single-player campaign.

I am buying this game regardless of reviews or criticism. I love the Aliens series, and cannot wait to play it. Cant be worse than AVP right?

I hope this game is good. I'll get it on the Wii U. But just from that vid a couple of details lacking disappointing me. The sonar didn't pick up the Alien on the other side of the window... should have been going nuts! And when they get shot.. they should melt through whatever they land on... they have acid blood.. Anal I know... but still!

I was hoping this would be a new Left 4 Dead but with aliens, looking at it now though it coule be more like Dead Island which i don't like at all. Plus insta kill possibilities?, i can already guess some cheaters will take advantage of it.

Think i'll wait for Left 4 Dead 3, practically guaranteed to be awesome. Hurry up with Source 2 valve, i am itching to upgrade my 5870.

Multiplayer should allow someone to play as a Burke type character trying to stitch everyone else up. That would be so nuts.

If you go back in history, Alien games have been on the go for quite a while. The last ones I played was the ones that came out on the Mega Drive and SNES, not forgetting the one on the Xbox 360 which was crap. This new one will look ace etc., but there's a 50% chance it'll be either crap or average. Shooters will always be shooters, end of, so live with it. It's excellent level design / missions that makes a game. So this has a lot to live up to.

Think I'll use my loaf and wait until it's £6 in Computer Exchange, wether it's good or crap.

AvP on consoles sucked I think, but on PC it was decent. Maxed with DX11 it looked and felt like a different game.

Will be picking this up on PC so hopefully will look the business.
