Far Cry 3: Ubisoft apologises as server issues disrupt play

Postby brookie_2001 » 30 Nov 2012, 13:33

Luckily there is a workaround for this. People are already up in arms moaning about always on DRM. Which this isn't. It is just the login servers by the sounds of it.

Also the only people it affects are the people who bought this game for multiplayer (did anyone?). The SP content is meaty enough that the servers will be fixed by the time a lot of us want to jump in the multiplayer.

Got AC3 and Far Cry 3 on PC today. I manage to install them both, go to launch them and then Uplay doesn't work. Can't even go offline as it's my first time logging in. Wonderful

Well as long as console players are unaffected then it doesn't bother me.

That's nice and all, but you need UPlay to activate your game's CD-key, which wasn't possible. It's something that shouldn't be in the way of playing a game, but we all know that Ubisoft tries to make life of the honest buyer as hard as possible with their scorched earth tactics. At least they finally see that this isn't helping anyone, and take measures to ease it off.

I couldn't find my freshly installed FC3 in the offline-mode list, though...

I have no intentions of touch multiplayer or co-op for a while anyways. This game is all about the campaign for me.

Another game bites the dust.

I didnt have any server problems, my problems are in singleplayer with bugs. I normally don't find any but this time i am getting swamped. i have had the game crashing when pausing during a cutscene type bit where when i unpause it just gives me a starry night screen and does nothing. I can still access the pause menu and quit but can't keep playing. So now i wont be pausing when it is one of those in game cutscenes where you can look around but not move.

Also i have had noclipping enemies bobbing up and down through floors on a boat sliding half way across the map while welding a boat. Other boats landing on the beach with reinforcements that then begin to hover and spin in the air. Me trying to get on a zipwire and spinning in the air in all directions while no clipping my way backwards through the boat. Not a good start if you ask me.

I managed to receive it on Wednesday and i've been playing a lot the last couple of days, ironically on release day i couldn't play! Thankfully you can just turn uplay off so long as its not your first time running it.
I get that developers want to discourage piracy, and a lot of pc users make a massive ordeal about DRM when it's really not that big a problem, they just make it into one. However, this reliance on external software is actually getting ridiculous. I now have steam opening to play some games, origin opening for any EA games, and now uplay opening for ubisoft games. Soon i'll have more virtual game stores than actual games on my computer.

Do you actually like games or just complaining about games?
