Bungie's Destiny: plot and concept art detailed in leaked do

Postby theideal » 28 Nov 2012, 05:53

The 'social at its core' thing concerns me a little but I effin love that artwork. The character and mech design is right up my street.

^ i totally agree. that artwork is great, the robot thing reminds me abit of big daddy from the bioshock games. the storyline premise is really interesting too.

which begs the question, why use that style and story for a flipping 'social' (read watered down, simplistic) game? hopefully they just mean 'social' as in you can post what level you're on to facebook.

The artwork looks amazing but the story sounds a little much like Halo. You play Humanitys last hope against an overwhelming alien menace. Then again originaility was never bungies stong point. Anyone else remember playing Oni there Definately not Ghost in the shell game.

I hope Bungie pull this off, they were going a bit "odd" towards the end of their tenure with Halo and perhaps getting a little too big for their boots.

Love the artwork and I am hoping Bungie find their feet again.

lol, well there's literally MILLIONS of aliens-vs-humans stories

i think the originality comes with there being one city left, and a guardian alien ship above the planet. i can't think of another story with that premise (off the top of my head anyway).

Social at its core is cool if there are no compromises and everyone gets what they want from it.
Inner child and a universe comparable to Star Wars are big pluses to me. Is this not why HALO was so huge in the first place? Games like this benefit from the social side - as long as it is in context with the game and not about sharing who got kicked out of the Jungle last night :P

I am hoping for something similar with Elite:Dangerous - being able to communicate meaningfully with other pilots.

Good old bungie.
And then I read 'less mature than halo' and 'designed for your inner seven year old'

Now I don't know what to expect, I don't even know what my inner 45 year old wants any more.

This week I will be mainly going 'clear' and fighting aliens.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Bungie are gods in my eyes and really know how to create a fantastic community- however free to play games and Activision combined is a massive turn off. I'll be keeping my eye on it at any rate- I mean it looks like it might have space combat. Spaaaace combaaaat!
