First issue of new look Official Nintendo Magazine out now

Postby Megatrons_Fury » 21 Nov 2012, 14:21

I miss the old days of ONM, back when the snes etc was around and it was the size of the old yellow pages. Took forever to read, absolutely one of my favourite mags of the time, still have them all bagged and boarded for protection.

Stopped getting the mag halfway through the Wii era, hated that console with a passion and didnt like where the style of the mag went, far too kiddy with loads of really bad free gifts, may swing by wh smith and see what the new design is like for the re-launch although wont get my hopes up, with so little Nintendo releases on anything i suspect quite a few issues are going to be padded out with features that themselves are padded out.

Thats the problem with console specific magazines now, not really much get released compared to the mid 00's or the 90's so they tend to be a bit meh, edge and games tm and i suppose gamesmaster are still cool although edge reads like a womans fashion magazine and looks terrible now.

Sincerely hope it does well though considering theres so few mags around thesedays.

The NOM era was a personal favourite for me, it was really the driving force of my fondness for Nintendo. I remember them being really funny with features like "Club Seal". ONM is good, but I stopped buying it about 50 issues in. Not really due to the journalism, but since I started using the internet more and more for videogame news, the expenditure became increasingly unnecessary.

Say what? Club Seal was awful! As was NOM in general: trying to hard to be cool and "down wiv da kids". I will try to pick this up though, if only for Matthew "90% Red Steel" Castle.
