PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale review round-up

Postby cult » 20 Nov 2012, 18:07

Had the demo on vita and ps3 and didn't enjoy it.
Must be an age thing because there was a time when Friday nights was fight night.
Winner stays on for a few hours then worms to make it personal.
Maybe its because I couldn't get a win with my rickety fingers.

This week I will be mainly going 'clear' and fighting aliens.

Played the beta and the system of points and supers annoyed me.

I wish they just copied SSB instead of trying to make it different for different's sake

the lack of stages and small roster should consign this to the bargain bin pretty quickly.

I find those scores somewhat surprising to say the least - I was expecting a critical panning the likes of which hasn't been seen since Haze or something - but that's actually quite respectable. Even a few 9's in there. Granted, I haven't tried it yet but I'm more interested now than before.

Genuinely, I'm shocked. I expected a cynical clone that would be cynically received. Good job, chaps.

Same here.

No idea how many stages there are but 20 characters for a new ip isn't a small roster. And there are already more on the way.

Fourteen stages apparently, twenty characters with two more coming as free DLC soon, the guy from Starhawk and the girl from Gravity Rush.

It's fair to say "Where's Crash? Spyro? etc" but I'm surprised they haven't put the Chimera in from Resistance, ok there's no main Chimera character but think of all the cool weapons Resistance games have, it could be a decent addition to the roster.

With how much love there is for the character, they should add Sully from Uncharted, one of his specials could be a giant cigar squashing other characters :D

The mixed score thing didnt suprise me. Some people felt they copied smash well. Others felt they copied them too much or not enough......

Some say he's half man, half fish. Others say its more of a 70/30 split. Whatever the percentage, he's one fishy bastard.

And if they made it 3D then it would be a Power Stone clone, if they made it like one of those Smash Bros. type games that existed before Smash Bros then it would either be a *insert name here* clone or it would still be a Smash Bros clone .
