Gearbox President Randy Pitchford's love for Aliens is infectious. He claims to have been stealing ideas from the film throughout his gaming career, and the idea that he now heads up the official sequel and works with cast members such as Lance Henriksen leaves him nothing less than starstruck.... read more
Funnily enough, not having to pause into the menu to view the map or muck about in the inventory on Borderlands would be a bonus. I know it's not a massive game changer, but would be a definite improvement for me.
Next gen is going to be very interesting. This gen most people I know own either a 360 or a PS3 and a wii. There are very few games where you'd pick the wii version over the 360/PS3 version. But the wii always has the Nintendo games going for it. Next gen could have 3 consoles all with the same game running on them. Which do you pick? Unless the NextBox/PS4 end up being significantly more powerful that Wii-u, in which case, we'd be in a same state as this gen.
^ It's more likely that the PS360 and WiiU will have the same version - except that the Wii U will have added GamePad features and possibly more polished textures due to the bigger RAM. The PS4 & X720 will have their separate "enhanced edition" with significantly upgraded and overhauled visuals.
Looking forward to this game on PC. Nintendo Wii U version should be cool alright with the motion tracker.
Hopefully this game will not only be good but look good. I remember playing AvP on the 360. It looked so crap it was hard to look at, by comparison the PC version maxed was and still is a treat to look at.
I bought The Jaguar to with AVP and Tempest 2000. I also bought the cd add on which looked like a toilet. Wasn't it nicknamed 'the crapper?' How apt! If they mess this game up for the WiiU then there should be no forgiveness. A real tracker in your hands? How can it fail?
I have seen Wii U footage that clearly shows the game being played with the new gamepad and the motion tracker was still on the main TV screen. I don't know if it was a scripted section where the player swaps between screen obscuring motion tracker and then upon a s**t yourself moment flip to full screen gun mode! My point however is that the motion tracker was not on the pad for this section. Whether that is how the full finished game plays we will find out next year.
Wii U limited edition is the same as the ps3/360 ltd ed, a few unlock codes. The collectors edition is the one with the power loader figurine and not available on U.
This week I will be mainly going 'clear' and fighting aliens.
