Disney purchased DC Comics in 2009 for about $4 billion and, three years later, The Avengers became the second-biggest grossing movie of all time.

Thats Marvel comics by the way mate :)

Ugh, how embarrassing. Mind was elsewhere. Thanks for the heads-up!

Hopefully now I'll be able to get Darth Vader pants that actually fit me, though queuing with the kids in the Disney Stores might be embarrassing.

Martin knew that DW, he was correcting the article.

No probs Rob.
You know i really think the clever money is buying new IP at the moment (and the previous 2-3 years) as technology wise there is a little bit of stall, as the next really big change is when consoles can really do raytracing and the like at super smooth levels.
Buying Marvel was a genius move , do like DC too , but i was(err  ) always a marvel boy, Star wars was even more genius , i just wonder how big their cheque book is and if they are going to buy any more games /film companies. On the other thread someone incorrectly stated that Disney owned Square enix , imagine if they did buy them, and think of the properties that they now own (Tomb raider, hitman, deus ex) , or how about sega or Rockstar,
who's next i wonder?

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt on that one, he might have invented a great new sport!
Here's a lockpick, now jog on.

"with George Lucas on the sidelines to limit the chances of instantly ruining them"

That's a joke, right, Rob?

They need to get rid of the Yes men that have plagued the franchise.

Joss Whedon directs Episode 7

Spielberg Episode 8

Brad Bird directs Episode 9

Result!

Now that the man who created Jar Jar is out of the picture we might actually get some decent films.

Spielberg directed the Anakin vs Obi Wan scenes in RotS and they weren't all that.

Spielberg hasn't been all that for quite some time. I'm being optimistic (maybe hopelessly so) here.
