Square Enix expects £42m loss

Postby Gambini » 31 Oct 2012, 13:04

Square Enix expects its full year profit to come in at about £27 million.

...which pretty much makes the rest of the article pointless. :|

Any company that uses the phrase "major HD game title" instead of the word "game" frankly deserves to lose money.

Although does say they havnt got a lot to play with in making new games. It would make sense to do another crystal defenders for Iphone/android/vita/ wii u , well all formats basically , and a few more games like that really.

I think it's important to understand these facts:

Square Enix has lowered expectations on how much it expects to make.
It has predicted a small profit in a highly competitive market where huge profits and revenues are necessary to breed confidence.
Its games are not selling as well as expected.
It believes it will return to profit.

If you consider that pointless data then, well, there's not much I can do for you really.

This doesn't bode well for the subscription price of FFXIV on PS3.

That right there is what's wrong with a lot of devs/pubs nowadays. They seem to be all too happy to pump millions of pounds into a game to make it look as pretty as possible, while actual gameplay (the important bit) is forced to take a back seat. Square Enix are the biggest culprits of this, imo.

It's hard to feel sympathy for a company that has been sitting on a goldmine for the past 6 years and refuses to give fans what they want. FFVII isn't my favourite Final Fantasy by a long shot, but why ignore the highest demand in gaming?

And underneath the title it says 1/2 year results, and that the 27m will be full year forecasted profit whats not to understand?

Don't be like that darling. You know I'd never report anyone, especially you. I love you.

This is all incredibly....something...though. I'm not sure what something is, but this is certainly it. And a lot of it too.
