Lionhead evolving into 'Entertainment as a Service' studio

Take all the avatar crap from Rare, give to these and let Rare restart Kameo 2, a platform banjo and kazooie and a remake of blast corps.

That would be awesome. I'd love to see a platforming return for Banjo-Kazooie.

'Entertainment as a Service' basically means that they would release a game with a promise for frequent updates to keep it relevant and fresh, probably hosted in an on demand fashion on 'the Cloud'. Basically like how there are 'Software as a Service' (SaaS) platforms who release software that are kept up to date with frequent updates, etc. Think Photoshop, etc. It's an on-demand instant-delivery model of distributing software. The 'as a Service' thing is more an industry term. What you can take away from Lionhead saying this is that when you buy a £39.99 game, you'll get more for your moneys worth over time, probably with DLC or in game updates, but it should be free if they operate under the 'as a Service' model. If the game is something that's hosted on the Cloud, it could very well be something like an MMO.

Something new instead of Fable would be good.

But as a studio the only other series lionhead have created was Black and White. Shame they didn't own the ip. Because a kinect enabled B&W would of been the core game kinect was built for instead of the pretty shaky Fable the journey.

Letting Rare have another bash at their classic ips would be great. But then again apparetn Rare fans seem to be stuck in the past. Nuts and Bolts was a huge step forward and the 'fans' made sure that rare wouldn't get the chance to bring back anything else by shunning it.

New IP would be good, but I have always said - and after playing Fable 2 and the lesser Fable 3.. It did seem to be edging slowly into more players.

A Fable MMO may not be able to survive in a subscription base manner, due to popularity being constrained to only certain countries - HOWEVER, The idea of a Fable MMO would be a nice one, house management, blacksmith jobs, exploring and all that jazz... I think it could work. But its a risk, and well since they did Journey - they are all for risks.

Keen to see what they do next in the franchise (and as a studio too). However I won't be getting Journey, no ty.

They couldn't do it. All the real talent left Rare years ago to form Free Radical Design (Timesplitters fame). Rare is a mere shadow of it's former self.

Goodbye Lionhead, you were interesting until Microsoft brutally raped you. I will remember you as 'Black & White' not as 's**tty on-rails Kinect Fable'. Well, as both really, I doubt I'll be able to stop remembering how Microsoft brutally raped you.
