Shame on you Ms you force lionhead to ruin the fable series with your crappy motion control then lay off all your hard workers what great work you have done in ruining a once legendary company

So is this considered news ? People in video game developement lose their jobs all the time it's the nature of the beast so why make out that this headline is ground breaking ?

Exactly, this happens all the time. Plus the story stated less than 10% of staff are affected, how many staff do Lionhead have? Whilst it's not nice to hear of people losing their jobs, I don't think this spells doom for the studio as this article makes out

Or perhaps do a little side project where staff can learn new skills in areas where they're weak/or interested in, until production on the main title ramps up, you know , kinda invest in your staff maybe.

"Microsoft said it will attempt to assist staff affected by the layoffs in securing new positions within the company."
Yeah they'll just send them to the job centre. Just joking.

Still though if someone at LIonhead would actually have the balls to say "Wait isn't this a bad idea?" then things might have been different. Fable 2 is probably the best Fable game out of them all, and sadly looks like it'll be the only one people will remember.

If Peter M. (Can't be bothered spelling his name) hadn't left Lionhead maybe the game would have actually been playable, as even he said it wasn't on rails, but it ended up being on Rails.

Probably because Lionhead were one of the most innovative studios ever, with ambitions pretty much beyond anyone's reach. If you aspired to work there you would have had to have been ambitious. Then Molynuex and Microsoft stifled your ambition for a few frigging quid and you got royally screwed over.

It's Peter M's fault Lionhead ended up in this situation, if he had just kept his huge mouth shut from time to time instead of the constant spew of BS he came out with things would of been different.

A lot of things have happened to bring this situation about.

Partnering with microsoft was a good move however part of the deal as with so many developers signing into these kind of publishing rights contracts is that the parent company has to an extent control over your projects, whilst managers are needed and everyone has to have a boss money people should never control creative thinkers and artists in this way, its terrible for quality.

Grabbing every possible piece of coin from a franchise unless your Nintendo is also not wise, fable 3 was in all honesty dull, boring and offered little new although perfectly playable, the term cut and paste has never fitted something so completely, Fable heroes is just awful, a real mess of a game trying to cash in on the popularity of castle crashers etc etc..... Fable Journey at no point was a good idea.

RARE, PSYGNOSIS, BIZARRE CREATIONS how many times must the cream of this countries programming talent be lost to business decisions made by people who have no real long term strategy or appreciation for the product they just purchased....Rare went from making Goldeneye and about 50 other awesome games to making stupid avatar items and kinect shovelware, god i hope Lionhead dont go down this route.

However....

Bear in mind all studios lay people off, thats a fact of the industry and how projects work however this studio is on what i call the endagered species list, or American tv shows likely to be cancelled this fall.

I hope the guys and girls made redundant get work soon, its a tough time right now.

Should have made Fable 4. Sad to hear though, they are a great studio.
