Software sales dropped only 18% year-over-year, the 24% drop was for total video game spending (hardware + software).

Although EA's sports franchises are all off to a better start than last year's editions, the drop in software sales is at least partly explained by a tough comparison to September 2011, which saw the releases of Gears 3, Dead Island and Deus Ex: HR.

edit: Gamespot and some other sites say the drop in software sales was 14%. According to Bloomberg it was 18%.

Yes it's a 14 per cent decline when physical PC revenue is factored in.
