OPINION: Nathan Irvine is developing urges for his first love...
My love affair with Pro Evolution Soccer goes all the way back to 2001 when the first game was released. In fact, it actually goes back further than that as I've owned every iteration of PES even before it changed names from International Superstar Soccer Pro in 1997.... read more
I too have had a similar love affair with Pro Evolution Soccer/International Superstar Soccer Pro, but my head was turned by Fifa. However after playing the second PES 2013 demo some of that old magic has definately returned. It felt fluid it felt quick and I wanted to play another match immediately after one had finished.
I will still be buying Fifa as it is an excellent game, but something deep inside is yearning for some Pro Evo magic to return!
I am also a convert but I did love PES 2011 but Konami are messing with the Master League too much and this year is no exception from what I have seen... so for that reason nothing will come close to FIFA's Career Mode!
Its certainly the best PES there's been this gen and with a wee bit more digging it could well be the best PES this century. But i still think that Fifa, with its recent additions of tactical defending and this years attacking thing, will still be the better game.
I'll be buying Fifa and sticking PES on my lovefilm list so i can get a good go on it.

I havent enjoyed a pes game since pes5, which was utterly utterly superb on every level (had it on the pc, mods made it even better). Since then it lost its charm and failed to impress with any iteration. That, with the phenomenal improvements to fifa make it simply too hard to pick pes for me.
