Where the streets are paved with plastic studs

There was a time when Lego really was just blocks. When we were young each of the little plastic people (who flew rockets made out of castle walls) were only present to add scale to our mismatched creations. Their sociopathic fixed smiles did nothing to add personality to the world. So it's hard to imagine a story built around them. Cue Lego City Undercover.... read more

Game looks fantastic but they really shot themselves in the foot making it Wii U only. It's like if EA sports went exclusive or something. No matter how many they sell, they're still stuck to the life and limits of sales of 1 platform that's not even out yet. Madness. Good pull for Nintendo, but a stupid move for the Lego dudes.

Its currently an exclusive. Which means it might not come out on current generation consoles. Nothing to say it won't come out on the next Xbox or Playstation.

True. Timed exlusivity is the new DRM :|

To my mind this certainly looks like more than the current HD consoles could hack and has since the first reveal. I continue to believe that the Wii U will (at least in some areas) be considerably more powerful than thhe PS3 or 360. And don't any of you hit me with that "Durr herp it's teh Legos it requires no power!" bullshit  , the textures are visibly high res and the lighting is swanky, looks like ambient occlusion or something in the mix. Demanding and pretty.

^ It's teh Legos and doesn't require a lot of power... Car models - not exactly Forza 4 / GT5. Characters - very blocky compared to Uncharted / The Last of Us and probably nowhere near as well animated. Cityscape - I prefer something like Arkham City or NFS Most Wanted.

However, the Wii U does appear to be able to output a pretty nice and sharp, clean-looking image. The 2011/2012 GPU will know a few new effects and tricks that the PS360 don't, and texture-quality is aided by the presumably larger RAM in the Wii U.

I'm surprised they released the image up the page there with the helicopter in it, as it looks like there is some quality page tearing going on near the bottom of the image.
