Thats probably because its predecessor amanged to destroy the reputation the series built over the previous 3 so when talk of 5 rolled round most people remembered what a train wreck 4 was and didn't bother.

Which is a crying shame because V is a damn fine game.

To right, number 4 was a shambles of a game. I read somewhere you could complete the campaign just using the throw!

SC5 is a great game that had to follow up a mediocre one - SC4 left a bitter taste in a lot of people's mouths and it's only natural that people have lost faith in the franchise. Hell, I almost skipped out on SC5 and I only bought it on a whim. Still, it's sold decently and if it's made Namco money then hopefully we'll see SC6 :)

It also probably doesn't help that the consoles are so old. I think there's a general slowdown now that people are starting to gear up for the next gen. Especially in certain game genres that don't have a core following of "must buy" fans.

The fighting genre fans are about as CORE as CORE gets dude...... They go mental for a new streetfighter, tekken, soul calibur, king of fighters etc etc.

I loved soul calibur 5, it was awesome!

5 was an enjoyable game but I stop playing after a week or two and the constant stream of costumes was just annoying would have prepared more characters to keep me interested long term, and the single player campaign was dreadful compared to the first game.
