kinect 1 proved that total hands free is completely limited and extreamly worthless... i'm sure this kinect 2 will have 1:1 motion tracking but that still isn;t good enough

It always amazes me that companies have taken a look at gaming understood it is an escape from the everyday norms and then done everything in their power to bring gaming in line with the everyday norms. Games that try to perfectly mimic real life, now controllers that are as gimped as you are in real life and that constantly remind you you're not in the fantasy places you could be.

They see it as immersion but the problem is a pro gamer + muscle memory + the small movements needed to control a pad or mouse/keyboard will always allow a pro gamer to become more immersed in a game than any motion control will. It is a constant barrier between you and the sublime. Sure a pad is but once your into it it's a small barrier, jumping up and down and moving your arm to somewhere until it hits the right spot on screen could never be a small barrier.

Turn the lights out and play Silent Hill 2, you will never feel that way about a motion controlled game until you can plug your brain in and be fully in that world.

It's sad that they would choose to focus on giving the casual market cheap thrills instead of focussing on unique stories and worlds that will turn people into real gamers.

Shame but It could just be a fad and if not there are decades worth of retro games to keep my attention and plenty of gyms to keep me active.

Actually, I think Kinnect and the Kinnect 2 are just genius. (WTF??? I hear you cry)

Just not for games.

Kinnect is a test bed to move us towards affordable 'Minority Report' type tech in the future. Microsoft is planning ahead and getting the drop on the other tech companies to use this style of interface for more general purpose uses, the tech level beyond touchscreen.

It's in its infancy to be sure, the limited uses for games are apparent at this stage and only really appealing to the casual market for fitness and party games.

For this generation and the next, controllers rule, but after that? We'll just have to see.
I jumped, O my brothers, and I fell hard but I did not snuff it, oh no. if I had snuffed it, I would not be here to tell what I have told.

Im a PS3 owner and as far as I'm concerned im 100% satisfied with how theyve performed this gen. Saying that, I'm also a WP user and I'm buying a Surface tablet day one. I'm genuinely interested in how MS are going to tie all their services together next gen. I'm not interested in Kinect as a gaming device but as a way of interacting with my TV and media. If MS get it right like I know they can, there's a good change I could jump ship.

Guess it depends on the game because Resident Evil 4 : Wii was my most immersive experience this generation purely down to the motion control. (maybe because the game design wasn't influenced by motion control?) I was hoping for the same with Move but nothing came close.

Kinect is brilliant for everything BUT games.
I am hoping that Kinect 2 offers a major difference: a hand-held controller with buttons :|

What a load of rubbish Kinect is.

Or maybe just the line up of games.

:?
You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.
