We travel to EA Canada to see FIFA's newest features...

Nick Channon doesn't look like a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders. He comes across as a rather affable bloke with a cheeky grin and relaxed, drooping eyelids. But as the Line Producer on FIFA 13, Channon is one of the key figures overseeing the game that represents a huge chunk of his employers' annual revenue.... read more

FIFA 13: First look at Manager Mode, Skill Games and more

So with the new manager's mode they've finally managed to replicate what Sensible World of Soccer managed 20 years ago. Now, I wonder if they can make it as much fun...

I like the sound of this improved Manager mode. I wasn't going to upgrade straight away, but that's enough to sway me.

Channon reveals that not only will players be able to edit squad members - for the first time, they'll be able to make sure Alexandre Song's ridiculous hair-do is up to date in their game for the entire season

Probably the first thing I do is check out Alex Song, it's always a good indication on how up to date players are.

FIFA 12 was, as its publisher repeatedly stated, "evolution, not revolution", FIFA 13 is distinctly the opposite. Perhaps due in part to the looming end of this console generation, FIFA 13 is a refinement more than a giant leap forward,

CVG you're wording it wrong, fifa 12 was a evolution and fifa 13 is also a evolution. Evolution is small steps, revolution is one giant leap. i'm not purchsing another fifa "evolution" since the last 2 have also been evolutions.

Anyways all these things they've added aren't features at all they're just fixes thats shouldn't have been in fifa 12 in the first place. Man I really do hoppe this fifa sell at least half as less as 10mil
- I troll without realising it
- Don't listen to a word I say

They should really put these skill games into the manager mode as a way to develop your youth players. That would be top.

Finally they've made Be a Pro a bit more reasonable.

It was so jarring to join some PL club as a 60 rated player and immediately you get put in the first team ahead of some guy rated 80+.

What's annoying is that FIFA 10 (I think) had a Reserve team system - hopefully this makes a comeback as well (I only skimmed the article so it may even say it in there).

Definitely agree - i've never really managed to bring on youth players as well as i'd like. I've often thought something like this would be ideal to give them a gentle shot in the arm
