Ontario government supports Rockstar Games studio expansion

Postby jm3811 » 10 Jul 2012, 08:03

"...comes with full support from the Ontario government, however details about financing were not disclosed"

Is that what they call democracy?

Compared to the way that some suits treats their Dev houses, R* are showing a bit of class here, as usual.

Fingers crossed all those affected can move to the new studio or find work elsewhere.

They're bringing their talent under one roof and offered the Vancouver team jobs there? It's almost 3,000 miles away! What use is that? People moan in England about having a job move 50 miles, but thousands of miles? Bloody hell, that's just not fair on those chaps.

what's the point in becoming a computer game programmer nowadays when after working hard for 1 to 2 years on said game to probably getting the sack at the end of production because your studio is closed by the greedy publisher's, cut throat or what.?

Why would they fire the staff who made The Warriors and Bully, which were both classics. I can't comment on Max Payne 3 as I haven't played it yet (waiting for a price-drop, it looks amazing.)This is stupid.
I wish CVG would stop giving Peter Molyneux publicity

What a shame, it just doesn't make sense to split up a team like this. The Warriors and Bully were brilliant games...... such a shame.

lol I was thinking this too. They are getting offered jobs in R* still, though a fair way away, they are not getting sacked in any form.

R* are not closing anything down, they are just moving staff from one office to another office, ok it may be 3000 miles away, but if somebody is going to offer you better terms or sweeteners to move to their area/location you will take them up on their offer, it will be much more cost effective for R* to have everything under one roof, they have offered people job's at the new site & they will no doubt get a additional payment package to help them with the moving.
