I actually get Mac games via Steam, though I typically buy the Windows version when it's cheap and download to Mac when that version becomes available (the beauty being that you can get the PC GTA collection for a fiver on PC, and download the Mac versions for free while other sites/stores sell them for £35!)
Now, if only someone will either sort out the awful GTAIV PC port that hates my more-than-capable Radeon 6970M or make a Mac version that's better optimised....
Have to disagree with this statement. When Valve games were released on Mac I was excited to get on board with L4D & TF2 etc, but the frame rates were disappointing, certainly without dropping the resolution and applying medium quality settings. But things were much smoother via Windows 7 / Bootcamp on the same machine.
Apple have been including graphics improvements in their system updates since the release of Steam on Mac, but there's no way they'll be able to keep pace with the optimisations Nvidia/AMD provide.
