You beat me to it.

As soon as I started reading the article I was thinking of Virtua Fighter. I guess the future was in 1993.
What I'm Playing Most: Ni No Kuni (PS3) / Titanfall (XBO) / Kerbal Space Program (Mac/PC) / Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (3DS)

Damn, beat me to it too. It feels like he's pretty much admitting the VF is the more capable fighter. and to be fair, he's right, especially with the way 3D fighters have gone these days...

In my opinion vf was all ways the best fighting game any way plus no fire balls or thumb breaking super combos to perform.

Interesting - I wonder however if the elements that they want to haul back on to create a 'slower' brawler environment as the elements that only work well in the amusement versions, and did not translate well on the console.

Lets face the simple fact 'Tekken Tag Tournament II' did not translate 'exactly' to the consoles as it worked on the TEKK.NET environment. I know the PR teams worked hard to try and avoid the criticism, but the simple fact was that the online services for PS3 and XB360 are not as versatile as the dedicated amusement equivalent.

So now that 'Tekken Vs. Street Fighter' has under performed, is the best way to bust ones self off is look at making games suit the hardware better - or force the hardware to be better?

The fighting game -genre will be getting at least a temporary boost from next-gen consoles, which will again make more realistic and detailed animation and effects possible. Beyond that, I hope fighting game makers take a "quality over quantity" -approach. SF4 and MvC3 were so good already that there wasn't really a huge need for SFvsTekken so soon after those two.

"Perhaps moving forward games won't be as quickly paced as they are now, so that you won't be experiencing as much lag. Obviously, newer fighting games will be created with that in mind."

Sounds almost like they are making fighting games for cloud-gaming services now...

I like fighting games and I love strategy games, so I'll be interested to see what he comes up with. Always enjoyed a bit of Tekken, looking forward to this one in September. Four player should be lots of fun. :D
