Nintendo Land: All the big names in really small games

Postby MD1500 » 06 Jun 2012, 06:53

I was dismayed at first, but thinking about it, this could be an excellent way for Nintendo to introduce the casual players to their IPs. Then, when the real game hits...

"Look, Mum! That new game has the same name as that Nintendoland game I really like."

It's marketing genius.

For example, they've just announced an F-Zero minigame....
Clearly, this is to introduce the IP to newcomers.
This can only mean one thing...

Not awful, just not what we wanted to see, and not worth the time spent on it. A blow-by-blow explanation of a minigame is bad marketing, chaps! But still could be quite fun in small doses.

If I were a betting man I'd say this is the game that will come bundled with the console. Much like Wii Sports did with the original Wii.

Nintendo have been making gateway games since Wind Waker was released. It wouldn't kill them to put some muscle in to their AAA licenses.

Having said that, I would kill for Pikmin 3 or Luigi's Mansion 2.
