Sony's five biggest E3 triumphs

Postby djreplay » 01 Jun 2012, 17:47

That's actually KZ2 footage not the cg trailer. On topic I think that having the gta's exclusive for a year was there best move and helped sell those 150m PS2's.

I heard this year Jack Tretton will pull his trousers down and show the audience a tattoo on his arse in honour of their biggest fan. It's got JB on the left cheek and O on the right. It only works when he pulls his cheeks apart though.
Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to stay on my toes.

Funny that the first 'o' pretty much sums him up as well!

The Gabe Newell one was quite a presentation of how developers' loyalty can be bought. First it was MS who bought their friendship and Gabe preached them and then he said the same when Sony slipped him some green.

Also the giant enemy crab was also a triumph for adding much need humour in a boring E3!
EA Sports: It's in the game(for a price).

I wasn't a fan of the Gabe Newell thing, it was disappointing at the time as a Valve fan, not because "oh noes, a PS3 version! Treason!" but because everyone (with sense) was expecting a HL3 reveal. That remains one of my most gutting moments in the history of E3 :(

Was it at E3 that Sony did the presentation of a FIFA game that began with the Arsenal team leaving the tunnel with their shirts emblazoned with the Dreamcast logo?

Sega Saturn was only released early because it was one of the biggest botch jobs of technology ever seen and Sega knew it, hence the desperate attempt to beat Sony out of the blocks. After screwing over Silicon Graphics in favour of their own rubbish the writing was on the wall.

The Saturn was a rubbish piece of kit with NO good games - in fact I would argue the Mega CD was more capable.

Personally i loved the Uncharted 2 footage with Drake and Chloe in that collapsing building scene they showed a few years ago. Brilliant showpiece.
