Alan Wake sales top 2 million, series 'has a future'

Postby StonecoldMC » 13 Mar 2012, 12:45

Fantastic news for all involved at Remedy!

It was a long, protracted and drawn out development cycle, but, they got there in the end and released a cracking Game.

Looking forward to seeing where they take the Franchise next, fingers crossed its on the NextBox, with another Special Episode to see us through until then.

You'll like it if you do, I thought it was great. And INCREDIBLY beautiful on PC, probably the best looking game I've ever played.

I wasn't such a fan of the Extra Episodes after the main game, but they were fun enough too.

Good news I say. I love AW but understand it's a bit marmite to some people.

Good news indeed! AW definitely delivered for me! Mainly because it didn't rely on taking safe cliches to make it another generic action fest survival horror game.
EA Sports: It's in the game(for a price).

After the fairly mediocre reviews it got on release I didn't bother getting Alan Wake. However since new copies dropped to such a cheap price I thought I would give it a go and I thought it was brilliant. Good ideas, good story, good action. If you haven't played it yet it's well worth a go. £12.66 new on Amazon at the moment is a steal. I haven't played American Nightmare yet, what are peoples views on it, worth 1200 points?

I liked it,but it took me about 5-6 hrs to complete, and not interested in that horde mode thing....so i will probably not replay it until i am doing a rerun of the games when AW2 is released...so its kinda up to you if you think 5-6hrs worth of play is worth 1200 points

If you like AW1,i think you will like AWAN though

Yeah, it's probably not worth that much to me for 5-6 hours, especially considering that's about the same price I paid for the full first game. I'm also not that bothered with the horde mode thing. Thanks.

I have just recently started playing this game on Xbox 360 and regret I didn't give it a chance earlier. It might be the game I had most fun with for a long time, probably because I never played anything like it before. The only minor criticism I have is that walking around in the dark woods gets a little repetitive after a while. On the other hand it makes sense that the environments are pretty much the same throughout the game because of the story, which is fascinating enough that I can live with a little repetitive gameplay. And I like the feel of a tv-series with episodes and "previously on...". That kind of small details add to the feeling of a original and unique game.

Got an Xbox about 6 months ago and picked up Alan Wake about the same time for £11. For some reason I just didn't get around to playing it until a couple of weeks ago. For £11 it would rank as one of the best games I've ever played for the money. Original gameplay mechanics, story presentation and enemy types - arguably still one of the best looking games on the Xbox. I was genuinely shitting myself when I first started out in the woods. If you've yet to play this it's definitely worth a punt for the money. The game runs sub 720p resolution on Xbox - if you have a top tier gaming pc the visuals are up there with the best of titles. Digital foundry ran an article on the pc version and struggled to maintain a 60fps experience on ultra with their test rig.
