Ian Hislop's GTA IV review: 'I wanted the police to turn up'

Not a bad word to say about Mr Hislop. If he says GTA is damaging to kids, then GTA is damaging to kids.

I wonder if Pete Sinclair wrote his funny comments and witty remarks?

That's exactly what I do when I play GTA: steal a car or two and drive around until I die. Gets boring after 20mins. I suppose the missions might be more exciting. But (and don't shoot me) I'd rather play Mario or Advance Wars. Much less mind numbing.

GTA4 destroyed my love for GTA. Hislop is old and still a bit funny, like a slightly mad uncle.

To be an editor of a satirical magazine and have the satire in Grand Theft Auto pass over you is quite something..

I agree. Though I put in many hours into it, desperately trying to finish it. Yet, all the way through, I just wasn't engaged at all.
VASTLY preferred Just Cause 2. There, I said it...

GTA IV rules, anybody who's life has been consumed and warped with the need for revenge knows that. Hats off to the Hausers for trying to sneak some meaningful narrative in there.

On topic, I see Hislop as more of a Fruit Ninja man, myself.
"A widespread investigation of funeral homes, morgues, and hospitals has concluded that the unburied dead have been returning to life and seeking human victims. It's hard for us here to be reporting this to you, but it does seem to be a fact."

Really? I'm not going to defend GTA IV coz I'll be the first to say it's not a patch on San Andreas and yes I did get fed up with the story about halfway through but I did play through to the end.

But Just Cause 2? Seriously? The voice acting was worse than laughable and there doesn't appear to be any storyline to follow. I have played it a bit (still own it) but I need an engaging storyline to keep me going through a game...and this had none! Maybe I just need to be more self-motivated

I hope someone on the programme pointed out that GTAIV is rated 18 and therefore shouldn't be played by kids.

Sounds about right to me. Incredibly overated game. It's great fun yeah, especially after a few drinks, but you'd think it was a f**king masterpiece for the ages the way people bang on about it. It's really just a thug sandbox.

Well at least he has played it to make comment, which is a lot more than some do!

I enjoyed the game, although the music was the biggest let down for me(same in San An too) and the reason Vice city is still the best for me today still.

Mario did someone say, should stick to 2D like sonic! Most over rated games this gen!
