Monkey Island Special Edition Collection announced

Postby almanac2015 » 08 Jul 2011, 11:19

Surely most Monkey Island fans will already own the Special Edition collections?

Who cares though I suppose. It's not something I can see myself purchasing but anything to keep Monkey Island in the gaming world is good enough for me.

Also...Activision?

I already bought both on the Xbox and Steam. Do I get a free download of the featurette and concept art or whatever they're tarting this version up with?

Honestly this annoys me quite a lot. The commentaries they added to MI2 were a great idea but I got the impression they recorded a heck of a lot more than they included, and I wondered why they'd held it back.

The only way Lucasarts are getting any money out of me for this (and a lot of people, I'd imagine) is if they do some sort of "upgrade" deal on any platform, for people who've already paid at least once (presumably twice if you include the original time that they are feeling the nostalgia for) for the games...

Otherwise I'm watching it on Steam and XBLA and will wait for it to be reduced to a silly price.

Double Dipping is all very well with DVDs and physical media, but when you've bought something vitually and all they're adding is what amounts to bonus disc style extras, its not like anyone can trade in their virtual copies to buy this...

Activision seem like a strange publishing partner.

I already own both of them on xbox and PC (big Monkey Island fan) but might pick this up for the bonus stuff.

I consider myself one of the worlds biggest monkey island fans so I'll still pick this up even tho I already own both HD remakes. I really wish they would re-release MI3 tho, even tho I was disappointed with it at the time I came to love it over the years!

Didn't Telltale do some sort of deal with MS now? I'm patiently waiting for them to release TOMI, BTTF and S&M3 on XBLA whereupon I will purchase it a second time.

As for CMI and (urk) EMI I'll buy HD versions of those from Lucasarts day 1. They really don't need to do a thing to them aside from up-ressing which is sod all compared to the MI1&2 special editions...

They don't need to touch Curse of Monkey Island. The graphics surpass absolutely anything LucasArts would be willing to do in a remake. I'd love a 2D remake of Escape from Monkey Island however, though don't see that happening. :P

Starting to feel like the dog who gets excited at every car that goes by only to be broken hearted to find it's not his owner coming home...

Enough of the damn remakes and give us something new!! Or at least jump off of monkey island and do an HD remake of full throttle, day of the tentacle, and the indiana jones click and plays. <whine>

The original Sam n Max: Hit the Road!

I still have a copy of that. I think I'll play it this weekend. I did enjoy the first series of Teltale's games also. It's just nice to still play point and click Adventures at the moment.
Optimus Prime: I want you to go in that bag, and find my wallet.
Megatron: Which one is it?
Optimus Prime: It's the one that says Bad motherf**ker

Activision have served as LucasArt's distributor in the UK for as long as I can remember now - it must be a good twenty years.

Day 1 purchase if it's 19.99.

If its the usual 29.99 like most other old games re-releases or bundle collections (sly cooper, god of war collection etc) then i shall wait the 4 weeks it takes to go on zavvi mega monday, considering i have bought both hd versions on both the 360 and the ps3 i cannot justify spending another 30 quid on the same thing yet again.

If they put it in a sexy limited edition treasure chest box though............
