Sony reveals cheap 3D TV bundle

The splitscreen idea is f**king awesome :o . Overall package is a very good idea although I would leave out the game to lower the price and let people choose their own as normal, what if they already have R3?

$499 isn't cheap, it's just cheapER than regular 3D televisions. I like the idea of this though, might pick one up.

Argos are selling a 42" 3D plasma TV by LG, with a free 3D Blu-ray player thrown in, for just £499.99!!

Very smart move by Sony releasing this. My resistance to 3D is beginning to crumble.
Co-op is going to be really special on this. For me it is the killer 3D application.

I think the PS3 is going to struggle to render to two whole separate screens at a high frame rate but the next generation of consoles are going to be sweet with technology like this! I wonder how many players you could provide a full screen co-op experience? Would 4-player full screen co-op be possible ? :|

When its 3d, allows for the greatest co-op ever, and comes with resistance 3. Sony won e3 so far.

Cheap for 3D gmc, but then, it's not really big enough for the usual living room use, more PC monitor size, so you'd have to be up close. I think it's a nice option to have, but yeah, it's not particularly cheap in overall money terms. I still say take the game out and drop the price more.

At 24" it's ok for a bedroom. No good in a fair sized living room though.
I don't think Sony are being overly generous there.

This is a good idea, the different images fofr each player is a very good idea, but its smaller than the tv i already have, what sony should have done is offer different sizes of the TV

Err, no.
You have long been able to get a 40inch 3DTV for £500-£600 if you shop around.
Heck Ive got my eye on a new Samsung 40 inch Freeview HD 200Hz LED Smart TV with Internet access, DNLA, USB recording and media capabilities for £650. That is cheap. Not the s**t 24 inch Sony will be trying to push.

Well given this will be pushing an entirely new way of playing co-op I reckon 24-inch isn't too bad. Personally I'd wait until they put out bigger ones, but as a starting point I think it's understandable.

Wasn't a bad announcement. I especially like the way co-op works.

Problem for me is screen size. I don't want to downgrade screen size and though 24" is not bad for a bedroom, I hate playing online games on a small screen. Plus, as tempting as it is, 3D still doesn't bother me. It looks like layers of 2D to me, not full 3D. Still, it's a start. No doubt eventually I'll pick up a 3DTV, but I plan on putting it off.

I imagine this two player thing isn't going to be exclusive to this TV is it? Instead of sending the left image to the left eye, they'll send the left image to both eyes of player one, the right image to both eyes of player two. So this should work on any 3DTV. Good idea mind.

Is this just a monitor? You can pick up a similar size 120hz monitor for not much over £200.
