Doesn't this just make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Xbox 360 dominates the market and it dominates my heart.

Never understood why fans get excited by numbers like this for their console, will it make the 360 worse if Sony announce tomorrow they have sold 56 million? No, no it wont.

That said the fact that all three consoles have broken the 50 million mark this generation is pretty special, gaming is no longer set aside for the select few geeks, there is currently around 200 million current gen consoles sold, those numbers are frickin awesome for the industry as a whole.

Industry should celebrate, fanboys well, they are gonna throw mud no matter what I guess.

Moving into this generation, I dont think anyone could have expected the Xbox brand to perform as well as it has (especially when you think of RROD), but all credit to MS, they came out fighting and have reaped the rewards.

All 3 of the console manufacturers are performing well, but I think we all have to doth our caps to good old Nintendo! Many, myself included were very worried about them going into this generation, but they have wiped the floor with everyone both in hardware and software sales.

All in all, everyones a Winner and no ones a Loser.

Roll On E3 :D !!!

I think Microsoft can pat themselves on the back for this generation they have played a perfect hand.
And with that success they can now announce its new console and make everyone obsolete in one sentence.

Now that would be a horrable idea. A world with only xbox. The 360 platform gets few exclusives as it is. With no Sony or Nintendo it would be a complete 3rd party games system. MS barely tries to push new exclusive games now, even with Sony on their heels. With Sony gone, gaming would be in a horrable state. You need at least two fighting for the market. They could (and should) push each other to great things. I like my 360 and ps3. More games means more games. I don't want any of the two to disappear. Oh and Nintendo too ;)

I must concede, as well as Microsoft has done this gen, I think they're so focused on the western market. It seems to be paying off for them and sometimes that's a good thing (Forza Motorsport 3 over Gran Turismo 5) but a little Japanese culture would go a long way. It's not like you're ever going to see The Last Guardian appearing on 360. That said, there were a bunch of Japanese titles announced for Kinect last TGS so perhaps those will convince at E3 next week. On the other hand, those are third party games. Microsoft needs new IP right now and I for one would like to see them announce something entirely different, other than a shooter (Gears, Halo, Splinter Cell: Conviction,Crackdown, even Alan Wake).

But, in "A world with only xbox", every single game would be an exclusive. ;)
I agree though. Competition is great for the consumer.

Will they show a new Xbox? Out in 2012? I hope so but doubt it...

Watched a doc recently in which the question was asked to 7 year old kids "who makes the xbox", nobody knew. Hats off to microsoft who know they are an unpopular brand and decided to downplay this aspect. The xbox division seems to know their stuff. With Sonys recent pr disaster this gap can only widen.

Yeah true that, technically
But everything would be 3rd party. Nothing drives gaming like first party blockbusters.
