First Alice: Madness Returns review ain't pretty

Oh dear.
I was looking forward to this one.
I would just settle for an XBLA/PSN download of the original then please.

Just looking at the trailers made me think this games gameplay wouldn't be that great. I'm not at all shocked by this review. It's only ever been a price drop game for me if anything at all and this review just confirms that. Of course I'll wait for more reviews but I doubt very much this game will get above 7 anywhere.

I'll still be buying it. Partially because I think I'll enjoy it regardless, partially because it includes a free download of the original, but mostly because I like mental goth chicks. I probably shouldn't...

If the artbook is anything to go by- it's gonna be a sick and twisted ride alright. Seriously- the artwork is awesome, check it out if you're interested.

As for the review- I generally tend to read a variety then try and see if there are any negatives points that are brought up over and over again. Then I may be put off. Oh, and if I play a particularly bad demo it may force me to stuff my cash back into my wallet.
As it stands- I'm still interested in playing the game, if just to explore the crazy imaginative version of Wonderland.

Obviously this guy hasn't played the original game. The things he described were also roughly the description of American McGee's Alice. What a douche.

Looking at this vid, I can kind of understand the concerns about the platforming. Seems like it could get a bit irritating if you keep missing your jumps.

As for aiming, it seems to be mostly auto-aim anyway, and it looks like you get a fair amount of options in combat anyway, so perhaps that concern is a bit overblown? Who knows, we'll find out when we play. As Mr P says, I just really want to jump into a twisted vision of Wonderland.

The original was pretty average so i have to agree - it does sound like exactly the same game as before.

Alice is a great concept for a game and i bet it'll look phantasmagorical, but a turd covered in glitter is just a phantasmagorical turd.

Yeah, the original game was nothing special gameplay-wise. It was more about the journey and the experience, and I have no problem with that.

I'm curious if the reception will differ between the PC and console crowds. PC gamers tend to be forgiving of problems if the developer is aiming high. Also, "hampered by the need to shoot targets with a Pepper Grinder gun saddled with a manual aim system that is imprecise at best" shouldn't be a problem with keyboard/mouse.

Yes, he's totally a douche for having a negative opinion of a game.
