Portal 2 PS3 cross-compatible with PC

Why?

Personally, majority of my friends have 360's anyway, so if I was bothered by the idea, they've picked the wrong console anyway.
Everyone sucks, just don't tell them

Time for some Microsoft policy changes methinks... Can't see it happening though.

I'd love to see some cross compatibility on games. Although I think PC gamers with m&k would have an advantage in FPS's!

Funny how Sony's is supposedly the most open platform, yet MS suffers from more piracy, has a massive chunk of the HDD (6.5GB out of a 20GB HDD) used for some system stuff and over 2GB of the DVD for piracy protection.

I'm hoping this is going to make MS more open next gen. I love my 360, but there needs to be more freedom (the USB storage was a decent start). If developers start favouring rivals due to what the system offers beyond storage/processing power, MS will surely have to take a look at their model?

if microsoft allow valve to put steamworks and cross platform play then that would mean pc,ps3 and xbox 360 will be able to play together, I hope there's no friendly fire because things could get extremely nasty lol

This has happened ages ago, I don't see why people think its some new idea.

1999 - Dreamcast and PC users boths played on the same servers on Quake 3 Arena

2003/2006 - Final Fantasy XI allowed PC and PS2 users to play on the same servers. In 2006 Xbox 360 users were also let on the same servers. The first ever true cross platform game

They chose ps3 because the xbox is too closed off. Microsoft won't allow Valve to have their own direct way to the market. Where as sony's system is more open-ended/minded.

Also, PC s**ts all over consoles like fat kids eat chocolate.

You made my day but it PC is also the suffering platform at the minute due to developers being so stuck up the consoles market they don't give the PC a second thought.

If they did have multi-platform support, I would be cheering, since I could get Portal 2 for my PC and then play with my PS3 mates, its an idea which could work pretty well I reckon.

And didn't Shadowrun have cross-compatability with xbox and PC?

Definately getting the PS3 version if its being wholly managed by valve. Not only will it get cross platform coop. Which is nice, but more importantly it'll get free dlc and the ability to download mods.

Wouldn't surprise me if LEft 4 dead and a new version of the orange box, or at least team Fortress 2 found their way onto the ps3 at some point.

The PS3 is just a PC with a different OS and slightly different hardware, this is hardly surprising. The problem that they will have to overcome is that you can't have a text chat going between PS3 & PC, so you'd need a mic to communicate. And, since I hate mics, I won't be able to communicate at all. They'll need to put in some sort of chat/command interface.
But apart from that, bring it on!

You could have text chat, just buy one of those little keyboards that clip on the controller.
