Cheaper Xbox 360 Slim coming

Postby pmantis » 15 Jun 2010, 11:01

They will take away the wifi and the hdd will be about 120 gb. They may aswell take away alot more and sell it under £100. I still won't be buying one, until they make playing online free. Which will never happen.

Its only £40 per year to play online...worth it as its much better than PS3s offering for onlineness. Dont be a tight WAD

They'll probably drop the hard drive or give it a much smaller one. With them phasing out the original models now would be a great time for them to make sure every new 360 has a Hard drive to allow for compulasary installs on certain games to circumvent the space limitations of DVDs.

If all they do is drop the HDD though, Getting an arcade might be a good purchase. You could buy a bigger SATA drive then the one 250gb model and fit it yourself for less than the cost of the more expensive model.

Im still using the ancient 20G model and I think ill upgrade to this new 'slim', dont think id need 250G though, so a cheaper option with a smaller HD would suit me down to a tea (if thats what this is?).

yeah, forget about the millions of others out there. don't be so stupid.

even though most have a HDD anyway, because the arcade was out there they couldn't make mandatory installs.

nothings changed.

too late to implement it now.

Don't you need their hdd's? Was looking at an unboxing and it doesn't seem that the drive is a standard 2.5" drive but a proprietary one. Might be wrong but we'll see.
I'm guessing wifi is gone and most of the usb ports. We'll see what kind of hdd they will add, if it is a 120gb then tht's a steal.

wow are people still complaining about the fee for XBL? You can get it for as little as £28 now if you shop around......

I would much rather pay for XBL and be able ot chat to a friend on a different game, not to mention the countless other advantages to XBL.

How do you work that out? They've done nothing but add new features, whereas Sony, they did the opposite by taking features away. I think that you will find that the PS3 has undergone more changes than 360 as far as new SKU's are concerned…

It's all about choice and not about what we get force fed.

Right so the millions of others most with HDDs and a few that don't which can have them fitted or just use a USB drive to install the extra odds and sods on.

Then again they aren't needed unlike the PS3 which a lot of the time does and take a hefty whack of the HDD so maybe its a good thing if they don't after all.

Not better than PS3 online at all, they both have their pro's and con's. The Gaming experience is equal as far as I can tell (not talking additional features like acheivements/trophies they dont interest me) PS3 could do with cross game chat, but then we'd suffer from cheats on FPS's helping their mates out when they die and are in spectator mode)

£40 per year = £200 to £400 for the consoles life span and thats if you onluy have one account in your house.
Most of us have mortgages (or rent) and kids, which eat most of our money. I get to buy about 4 games a year if Im lucky, so will I forfeit one game per year to play online when on-line gaming has always been free since I started playing online early 1990's...

they can't penalise current owners because a new model is out.

what will they say? "tough s**t - go out and buy an external HDD or a new model after you were stupid enough to buy our arcade model"

and any 360 game that couldn't fit on a disc which the ps3 would easily handle, would be larger than the biggest ps3 install, so... maybe the DVD drive was a good idea? no!!!

They already did. There are a few games out there that require the HDD, which is clearly labled on the box. Football Manager 06 did.

Also, can you stop bypassing the swear filter in article comments please. It's a site that is read by a wide range of ages, including kids. Why do we have to submit them to your foul-mouthing for no reason.
